Have to start by saying to the Logan club. BIG effort by u guys. I thought it was quite challenging in spots & learnt heaps. Following Beebee & greg helps though. We had a bad first stage with a couple of breakages, but after that we got it together quite well.
We won stage 2 COOL Was good teamwork as that hill was pretty chewed up by the time we got there.
We only did 6 stages by dark. My favourite was the track into the gully then winch & build the log ramp to get out. We went to do the orienteering at night when dave broke the drivers side highsteer arm, so that put us out.
But it was a good event ( although it would have been easier to do the orienteering with 5 GPS's instead of a hand compass )

Well what a weekend I had.... First it started with Wes not gettin to the challenge and then with the Logan Team goin home because they broke But all was good and everything was in good fun
Wes on the other hand had a rough trot as he was on his way up to BDV and having a bad run in with a roo resulted in our range rover in a right off!!!!! Along with damage to the trailer and the zook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another good weekend of competition. The Nissan team did OK coming 5th overall which we were really pleased about for our first team effort, but the outstanding performance was clearly On Track. They lost a car after a very heavy roll on their third stage, and completed the event towing the dead vehicle through them all - even winning some of them!
We struggled a bit on Saturday only completing 6 stages out of 10 stages for the day. Unfortunately the "dead vehicle" on our first driving stage (SS10) turned out to be the heaviest one which made it a struggle and we DNF'd. We had a ball on the "rally" stage (SS11) and thought we put in a great time but we collected several penalties - there might be some good air shots on that stage from the log run though. On SS1 we struggled a bit and ended up losing the winch cable off my car, missed the DNF time and racked up several penalties. We were shocking at first aid (SS6), managed to manouvre the spare tyre through the course pretty well (SS9), and the less said about the food stage the better (SS5).
The saturday night stages weren't our best (S12a and b) as we struggled with the compass big time on the orienteering, then on the night nav we got to the first hill and one car blew both CV's, an engine mount and the transfer case seal. We made it back to camp for a few bourbons about 2am.
Sunday started early to change a CV before completing the stages we didn't have time to do on Saturday, only to then discover the other one was broken as well. The log ramp stage (SS7) was fun with the broken CV rendering 1 car in 2W. After standing my ute on it's nose the wagon behind did the same and clipped a tree with the rear quarter. We managed to complete the stage but missed DNF by about 2 minutes. The hand winch stage (SS4) was a bit of a non starter as we couldn't get the tirfor going properly (a combination of equipment and operator difficulties - mainly the latter we think!) We then changed the broken CV before going on to the gorge run (SS3). We were all pleased with the driving in the gorge and would've liked to do it without the compulsory recovery demonstrations. We finished off with SS2 which had caused so much carnage over teh weekend. We all drove the gorge pretty well but the hill was loose, powdery and well and truly dug out as we were last to go. It took a long time to winch me up and then we got a good towing system together to get the others up. Unfortunately Link's shorty broke at least 1 CV and a rear diff having a go at the hill, which made it hard to tow up to the top and slowed us down. We didn't make it to the GPS nav (SS13) in time so we got a DNS on that one.
There was some really courageous driving over the weekend and brilliant attitudes both withinn our team and across all teams to put in "never give up" performances.
Congratulations Marshy & Julie on a great event. Thanks to all involved.

What a weekend! Firstly congrats to Bret and the On Track team.....Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Secondly a HUGE thanks to the organisers and sponsors to all well done. Next the guys I spent the weekend getin down n dirty with my team mate and clubbies Steve,Dave , Jeff, "Crabby", Troy, Darren, Terry and to Big Andy n Craig thanks for comming on board and playing in the dust! Exhausted.
Winners are grinners I guess and we as a team are very happy with the result. We were impressed with the layout of the event and the surprises around every corner that kept on testing us and had us scrambling. Would have been easier with the Army Truck.
Fantastic to see so many people get behind the event and support our sport. A big thankyou to EFS the major sponsor as well as Brett at On Track 4WD Centre for putting the team together.
Everyone worked tierlessly and when someone needed inspiration it was quickly found. We wanted to lay down and die a few times but we kept pushing. On the bridge building we had four of the five cars dead at one stage with Steve and Andrew breaking a winch cable in the 60, Brett frying his alternator and breaking his five-link front and Phil and I in "Bob" having fuel pick-up issues while Rod and Steves car was a caravan all weekend after the rollover smashed the timing gears and dizzy as well as the radiator etc. Mike (Mr Sheetmetal) and Blake's car was the only one running at one stage and we were able to think on our feet and get everyone through in a respectable time. Steve Currell in the 60 kept pushing us during the night run when we all were starting to give in to fatigue. Great team work and great event. Fantastic to finish on a high with all the boys getting some high speed driving in during what was a brilliant GPS run on Sunday, well done Shane.
A big thankyou to all the officials especially those who put up their hand from other clubs and groups at the last minute. Congrats to all the other teams especially the guys from Rocky, you fellas rock. NBS showed a huge improvement on last year as well. Moreton will be back and must have had a great weekend to finish second, top effort. Bad luck to Wes, hope your OK buddy. To all those who took the soft option and didn't stick around for the weekend and compete or lend a hand...I won't waste my breath.

About Alec
I just wanted to bring something to the attention of those who may not know. The Gentleman, and that is what he is, who donated the "Go hard or go home" trophy is an inspiration called Alec Howie.
Alec is the father of Melody who was the official on the first aid stage Granddad to Ash Tink and Lachy and father in law to Phil in "Bob the Builder" and friend to many. It was only a couple of years ago that Alec was competing in that event in "Grumpy Gramps" and had a multiple roll over only days before his 70th birthday. True to his form he dusted himself off, topped up the brake fluid and kept on going.
Alec is a fighter and a wonderful human being who touches the lives of everyone he meets. I don't use the word Hero very often but I regard this man to be just that.
I want to take the time to wish him and his family all the best now in what is his greatest fight against the big 'C'.
Go hard mate.

Yeah big thanks to Big Red for jumping into our team at the last minute.... Its a shame we couldn't finish the event.... With only one car trailer we didn't want to risk another broken car.....
The tracks were tough and we thought out... Shame the organisation wasn't there. Scrutineering took over 3 hours to start!!!!!! And while the stage officials were great it didn't appear as though they had be breifed well at all. However all and all a good event and as antt said we'll be back biger and stronger next year..... Dans 4runner is already in many bits and the zooks aren't far behind!!!!!!

First of all, congratulations to the On Track boys. A huge effort to take the title, after having to tow Rod's "streamlined" zook for two thirds of the event. Well done guys.
A massive thank you to all the competitors. I know some of you didn't have the best of luck. I also apologise for for the delays at scrutineering, and getting the event under way on Saturday. We had a logistical nightmare on Saturday morning, with over half my officials not turning up. I had to do a mercy dash around the camp ground to find some helpers. As a result, I had some guys (and girls) that had never done it before, therefore had no experience. But, I think they did a fantastic job at late notice, and I would frown on anyone that bags them for donating their time to help out. They did their best.
I'd like to thank Andy (Rangie Wrecker) for his comments about Alec. I realise there would have been a lot of people that didn't know the story behind the man, but Andy put it perfectly. Alec is the ex-President of the Logan Club, and has done an incredible amount of work to make our club what it is today. Unfortunately, like Andy said, he is battling cancer at the moment, and not having such a good time. He is a great man, and an inspiration to everyone. The "Alec Howie, Go Hard or Go Home" trophy will now be awarded every year at the Logan Challenge for the cometitor that demonstrates the same qualities we were all accostomed to seeing when Alec was competing himself.
Once again, congratulations again to all the competitors. You guys put on an awesome show. Thank you to all the sposors, EFS particularly. Thank you to all my officials, especially the guys from other clubs.
And, I hope to see you all next year. I've already started planning stages!!

What a fantastic weekend. GO MORETON DISTRICTS.
As Andy said, we had a blinder. We had a big focus on safety this year and had no major penalties and 9 minors for the whole weekend.
Things started out real well for us and just kept going well. First stage for us was the tirfor stage. Having three patrols and two 80 series in the team we had a heavy pull up the ledge but did well with no penalties
We won the rally stage which was heaps of fun. BJ56 (my son) off the board had only had his licence for 1 1/2 weeks and did very well with a time up with some of the other more experienced members of the team.
We also won the orienteiring stage of the night run. We got all 20 points in 1:09 and got to bed a bit earlier than we thought.
Loved the ramp stage with three cars finding the tree of the right side of the last step. Big for the solid logs we had this year.
On the road to nowhere stage (winch down and move the tree) We managed to drive ALL FIVE CARS to the tree But a bit further uo the creek, I had a play on some reocks and managed to snap my tailshaft clean in half. This put me out for the last stage which was to the GPS run. We had another car who also broke a CV on this stage, so we only had 3 cars run on the GPS Run
All in all, I would say we put in a very consistent performance with reasonable times, a couple of stage wins and kept the safety up to ensure that we received minimal penalties. In contrast, last year we had a couple of majors and 30 or so minors, so this years count was gratifying.
I think that the organisers did a fantastic job with the event. particularly the way that they managed things like officials failing to turn up etc. As I understand it, the reason why scruitineering was late, was because a number of officials failled to turn up and the organisers were busy finding new officials.
This years challenge would have to be up there with the best I've seen in my opinion, EXCEPT THE FOOD STAGE (I drew the onion).
