Gq front end shake

Post by rocksteps_hero »

Well I was taveling 110km/h on the main free way no trouble
turned off onto a country type road got upto 80 km/h then the whole front end started to shake. stoped check cvs and shocks and wheel studs nothing drove off only for it to happen again slowed down to 60km/h and the wheel stoped shaking. After some fun in the sun drove home with the front hubs locked and the tyre pressure at 25psi and got up to 80km/h and no problem no shaking. Any ideas Shocks, wheel balance

Thanks :?: :?:

what are your front panhard bushes like? mine did the same thing and new bushes fixed it. under $20 bucks each, easy job to eliminate one possible cause. what is your front draglink like as they can flog out on the ends which doesn't help things.

Forgive me if this stating the bleeding obvious but did you check to see if any of the counter weights have come a front rim. Mine was doing same thing the other day, changed over to the offraod tyres I just got and it is fine, I had been wheeling and I knocked a weight off and it sent one of the wheels out of balance. Liek holey said check your front panhard bushes too.

Have you checked the bushes in the front end? Might be worth checking out your steering dampner too.

Stood on the skids hard lately and flat spotted a tyre? Unlikely I know but a suggestion anyway.

From what I've heard and experienced a lot of GQ's get this to a certain degree, how bad are you talking, is the whole car shaking its arse off?

I have the same problem - Only had my Gq for about 4 Months

Suddenly the whole front end starts to shake and shudder at speed.

Had all the front end bushes replaced. Wheels balanced. And Still It happens.

I have had mine is again, it is definately the king pin bearings. Does you steering wheel transmit the shake / wobble? If so check the tie rods too.

I've heard that this can also happen when the castor is out. Lot of info on this in the Bible.

Took it to the boys and they said it was bushes but if not them I will have to crawl to the nissan trials and try to find the fault later where is the bible located herd that nick mannell uses a black box on the steering . the steering wheel shakes maddly. maybe I should just put a 5link on the front, cant be any worse than whats there now.

Made a bad selection of car on this one.....

Had the same problem. New panard bushes, pumped the tyre pressure up and fixed it. I had to stop the truck totally to stop the wobble. You might have castor plates on but they tend to loosen up and cause wobbles. Two sets of castor plates equals drop brackets.
