Currently have 315/75/16 muddies on the Mav, but as yet, have not purchased a spare. Correct me if i'm wrong but 315/75/16 is equivilant to a 35" tyre. These do not allow the doors to open when mounted on rear door. What's the biggest size tyre the spare tyre mount will take, without causing too much stress on the diff, in the event that I need to use it?

The biggest tyre you can fit on the back door mount with out modifying the bumper is a 33.

Rear bumper has been removed, for custom rear bar to be fitted at later date. More worried about the left door not being able to open and if right door is opened fully, will it crack tail light assembly. Also is much stress placed on driveline if I was to run 1 tyre of 33" and the other 3 at 35"

most people run the spare with no air in it then a 35 is fine. just pump up when you need it.
Also a spacer to space it out from the door helps. or is that GU... forget now

no you dont want 3x35 and 1x33 not if you like your LSD

I did have my 35" spare mounted on the door (have tyre carrier bumper now) and had very little clearance problems. But it had a dodgy valve in it so it never had any air in it either.

Since the most likly time you will get a flat is when off-roading with the others at low pressures. Try dropping its pressure down to about 15psi and see if that helps. If not keep going untill it doesent hit. Even if it doesent fully clear. With very little pressure it want damage you tail lights.
Just dont throw the door open as it tends to go around abit further than the catch and this will both damage the door and the taillights.

As for the bumper dont know how well they would clear as I havnt seen my std rear bumper for 2yrs.

Just remember though to keep abit of air in the tyre. Cos if you dont, with vibrations it will eventually break the bead and fill up with water when it rains (Matt I found out why that tyres had the death wobbles).

A 34" would fit aired up based on my 33" swampers and my 285/75/16"s

Mate, I can fit a 34x11.5x16 Simex JT2 on the back of mine with no mods or probs. Just check my members thread for a pic ;) .

Yup, agree with that and they measure nearly 35 too, but if you get keen opening the big door, wave ta-tars to your body taillight.. dont ask how I no.

I've got my 35" MTR spare mounted in the factory spot, aired up. It takes a bit of persuasion to open and close the smaller door and, bogged is right, you have to watch the tail light when you open up the big door.

I just put 35" on the door ten mins ago thanks to the bible for help all that was needed was redrill hinge to stop tyre from hitting brake light
grind off bit not needed let air down to 14psi which was done with a staun tyre deflator to normal off road setting .
padlock on tyre to stop it going missing DRINK BEER TURN ON NERD BOX

i spaced out the spare bracket 40 mm to fit a 35" bfg muddie on.
just used some nylon as the spacers.

I've got 35" muddies on the back door, stock as a rock, it just catches the tail light slightly, but can still get my drawers open, just got to be a bit mindful, otherwise me thinks it would break da tail light. Got body lift but standard bar is lifted up too to suit.

Well i've had a play with the tyre, droped it down to 12psi and the left door still catches by about 6mm (about half the tread depth). Might try some sort of spacers to go behind tyre.

perhaps I'll just get onto a 'bald' spare tyre!!!

Do yo uguys have any problems with the weight of the big tyres on the standard spare wheel carrier?
The hinge pin of the lower hinge on the big door has sheered and I was wondering if the heavy wheels on the door have anything to do to it...
Also, where do I get a new hinge!?!?! :)

Well before i had 35`s i had split rims and ile tell you there`s not much difference between the two. Both frigging heavy
