shaved diffs

well thanks to sam at overkill my zook ( serria tin top ) has shaved front and rear diffs he took about 45mm off the front one and about 30mm off the rear one this means that on 30inch bfg muddies i have the same diff clearance as my mates one which runs 32 inch bfg muddies :twisted:

i did the same i shaved n it made me look an inch longer :armsup:

if you want more inches shave it.

all jokes outter the way now.

how did the housing turn out ??

what was the cost per housing ?

After doing Cam's diffs I have done my rear and gained 35mm. on 33 inch tyres I have 290mm from the pumpkin to the ground.

I will take some photo's.
I also have a Vit housing that we have done out of a car so i can get some close ups.

Did you touch the crown wheel at all Sam?

I had a bit of a look at this a while back and it didn't seems as though you'd be able to cut 35mm off because the crown wheel was already pretty close to the bottom of the housing.

Does shaving your diff make them more prone to cracking or spliting in the case of a heavy hit?

Not if they're welded up correctly. The process involves cutting off the round bottom of the housing and replacing it with a flat plate.

not often we made the bottom centre stud into a bolt and drain it that way

I shaved my front diff and have a touch over 280mm clearence but my 33s are fairly flat. Well worth it Id say. pics of mine in the topic hilux diffs on suzi diffs. ( i don't know how to link)
