Is anyone running the haltech computers on their rovers. We're interested in getting the E6X with the fully terminated loom and installing it ourselves then getting it tuned at one of the various speed shops.

Firstly, is it relativly easy to setup once you read the instructions? I'm told the instructions supplied are quite comprhensive.

Secondly, did you notice a change in both performance and fuel economy?

Thirdly, is it worth the extra $1000 to get it installed and tuned at my local specalist rover workshop (Jordan Rover Tech).

Fourthly(is that a word?), is it easy to get these computers to run the auto-gearbox.

Finally, whats the injector cut-off function like? Does it really help when negotiating steep decents? This is a function I'm quite interested in as we've got an auto and engine braking is next to useless.

Cheers for any advice or tips you can give me.

Stuee,
I assume you have talked at length with Dave McLaughlin at JRT re the Haltech.
Dave is an extremely knowledgeable and competant person regarding engine management systems.
He installed my Wolf 3D some years ago.
IMHO spend the extra to get him to install it, he knows what he is doing and has all the equipment to get it right.
My system, whilst different is the same sort of thing although a little less sophisticated than the Haltech, it didnt make my economy any different (which was one of the main reasons for putting it in in the first place) but it did put a lot of extra grunt in the motor (4.6L), made it rev a lot quicker and freer(?) it also, by ridding the system of the air flow meter and other bits, made the motor extremely reliable.
My RR is a ZF auto, the combination of the Wolf and 4.6 makes the auto change a bit too early and can get bogged down on LPG if you are looking for a quick take-off, however on petrol and holding it in 2nd she takes off like a rocket.
As for the fuel cut off it works well on steep descents, requires a lot less braking effort if any and helps with the high ratio of the auto.
Hope this is of assistance.

Stuee

I had an E6K (predecessor) fitted to AZZKIKR running my 5.0L stroker motor.
I had the injector cut operation and had closed loop mode wired up too.
Worked like a charm (after it was sorted).
Doesnt take long to sort anymore with a good programmer and a dyno.
Definately made the vehicle more powerful, economical and driveable.

Go for it! But get it fitted (or at the least tuned) professionally..

Oh and ditch the MAF and fit a MAP sensor... much easier....

I changed my Manifold over to a Disco2 inlet.. that worked even better!

Cheers
Landrovers... Nothing else comes close!
