So what are your thoughts, spend the extra $ on getting an electric winch or just go the trusty old hand job (winch that is) and work up a good sweat.
Or would you be better off with both? (if only money wasnt a problem).

Hand winch vs. electric?
Moderator: Moderators
Obviously both would be best but a quality handwinch is a good start if you don't have the $$$. Also there is the added flexibility of the handwinch in all situations where you need to rescue a vehicle from various directions. Electric winch will obviously only work if you have a working battery but the handwinch is always an option as long as you're willing to put in the hard yakka. So if you can afford it go both and if you cant go the handwinch first...

Go the hand winch. A friend has one and it has resuced me and other guys many times, from anything from hillclimbs to deep puddles. Another advantage of the hand winch is that you can use it on any of the cars in your group and can can pulll a vehicle out backwards which is sometimes the only possible way.
just make sure you got a long handle to make the hard task a little easier.
cheers,
