Post by MUSS »

lookin at fittin a 4inch suspension lift to a bundy...will this be ample hight to fit 35inch simex pedes under it lookin at fittin a pair of 60series diffs in under it too....need width with the suspension lift will i need castor correction plates? or just offset bushes?will the rear lsd from the bundera diif centre fit into a 60series axle? if there is any info you know of that i will need to take into consideration let me know...thanks

Why not go 80 series like Mark and Antman did on marks bundy... all your info is there with piccies aswell..

Are the WMS measurements between 60s and 80s any different?
By going 80s you get all the control arm mounts etc with the diffs, just gotta move them.
Cheers,
Dan.

Probebly because of the weak front diff. (& cheaper)

Are 60 series CV's stronger than the 80 ?

Hey Jake,

Find me a cheap T/diesel 1990+ Hilux single cab for a project rig.
GXL Turbo Diesel 80 series- 6" King springs + Rancho in-cab kit- 35" BFG Muds Twin ARB airlockers.

I think a 50mm lift may be enough. I am running 35" BFG Mud Terrains on my 75 with only a 50mm lift. There was rubbing on the front guard on turns at first, but I moved the diff 30mm forward by redrilling the diff perches and the spring plates.

Now I am not too familiar with the Bundera, it is the LJ or RJ70, right? If it is an 1989 or older, the diff center will fit into the 60 diff housing, but if it is 1990 or newer, the center will be smaller.

4" will be absolutely heaps.... could do it with 3" maybe 2".

how much will the 60series diffs take it outways??? as opposed to the standard bundy diffs?

nobody has bothered to mention that the extra width on the 60 series axle will cause the front tyres to rub on full lock, even with 4". my BFG 35's (obviously wider than the simex) rubbed a lot with 1.5" spacers, 3" coil lift and 2" body lift. I realise the 60s axle will not produce the massive steer swing induced with spacers but it will still rub.

....will i need castor correction plates? or just offset bushes?

bushes will do for up to 3". I ran mine with 4" and no castor correction, it drove pretty good - no wobbles but a little bit of wander.

will the rear lsd from the bundera diif centre fit into a 60series axle?

no, but it will fit the FRONT axle from an 80 series.

if there is any info you know of that i will need to take into consideration let me know...thanks

you will need to cut and rotate the knuckles to get acceptable castor and front driveline angles.

you will probably need to convert to high steer. the bundera uses a high draglink with a low tierod running behind the and under the diff which can't happen with a low pinion. the 60 uses a low, front mounted draglink and tierod which will induce unacceptable draglink angle (steeper than the panhard, should be close to parallel). you could go a double arm on the left knuckle but without leaf springs this leaves a low mounted tierod very exposed as it is the leading edge of everything lower than the bar/chassis at the front of the truck.

with 4" lift you will need to modify the panhard bars. ideally you want adjustable ones to get it spot on but they are not available off the shelf for bundera.

all the tyres (even 10.5"'s) will protrude from the body by approx 3" or from the factory flares by about 1", you'll need to do something about that to keep it legal.

is the bundy getting an engine transplant? if not it will be necessary to re-gear the diffs. Bunderas have 4.3, 4.56 (petrol) or 4.88 turbo diesel) diffs, and with the 35" tyres the 4.88's are the only ratio you want, with either engine. Even with something like a commodore V6 conversion, turning 35's the 4.3 or 4.56 would be preferable to the 60 series 4.1 gears.

I think it will be a pretty cool swap as long as you cover all the bases and realise it's probably going to be a bit spendy. Consider also if you are going to all the trouble of doung the swap, build a 5 link for the rear at the same time. The bundera leading/trailing arm setup is pathetic for articulation and ride comfort and will be noticably worse with the heavier 60 series axles. The 80 series axles are the preferable swap into the bundy, as has already been suggested.

cheers
