I knew the list that was the problem. The last things to get done are replace the wheel studs on front left wheel, adjust rear brakes and tidy up my botched wiring of tailights.

:bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words: Vicroads. i wish they would get theor stories straight. I had checked their website which states to clear a defect notice that requires a road worthy you just need to present the rwc. Cool that is what happened with mine, i have my RWC easy.

Now my rego at the time of defect notice had about 5 months to go on it. When my 28 days on the defect came and went I rang Vicroads to see what would happen. they said my rego would be suspended until the matter was cleared. So now when i ring up to confirm that all I need is a rwc I'm told no i have to bring the car and re register it ie $530 and a full inspection. i said what about the suspended rego I still have about 4 -5 months worth. No that is forfeited because you were defected.

Now suspended and cancelled are completely different things :bad-words: :bad-words:

So no weekend trials event for me and the car isn't going to be able to be registered for at least 2 weeks til i get the money to pay for it :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words:

Now that is stuffed up. I think you should chase them up on this because if it was cancelled they have to reimburse the remaining rego. Well that’s what happens here in west oz.

That completely sucks dude!!!!!!!

Its cancelled. i have to reregister the car from scratch. I have lost nearly $250 worth of rego. All of which goes against what it says on their own bloody website.

So instead of wheeling this weekend I am celebrating my 1st wedding anniversary. Double edged sword really more brownie points for celebrating on the actual date but minus points for the amount of money i still have to spend on the Zuk to get it back on the road

if you had cancelled your rego @ the time the car was defected you would have recived the balance of your rego back .. so it it not cancelled it's expired same as it would have been had you been allowed to drive it on the road. The only thing that was suspended was your leagl ability to driver the the vehicle on registered roads, if you had the caranry fixed that suspension would have been removed.

You cannot suspend registration .. coulfd you imagine the administrative nightmare that would create !!

So this brings me back to my original question. If the rego had run out why did they let him keep the plates?

Over here you have 28 days to hand the plates in........

yes but it still comes back to my point, on their website and the phone operators told me my rego has been suspended until the manner has been rectified. Now as any person with a grasp of the English language will tell you this does not mean cancelled. I then went on the assumption that as I have been supplied the info from the relevant source it would be correct. i did not assume i would have to question their use of the English language.

Also they should have taken my plates back or at least inform me that the rego is cancelled.

yep but where do you draw the line in questioning what you are told. Website and person say the same thing but in reality it is different

it's out of the shed. It has a rwc, it has a unregistered vehicle permit. I'll be driving it home tonight in peak hour traffic  Hopefully I can arrange a time for early next week to get it registered

Then it can sit in the shed as a registered 4wd :D
