SuperCharging a 3F... With SC14...

SuperCharging a 3F... With SC14...
How well would a 3F run with a small 4AGZE SC14 Blower hanging off the side of it.
It has a Rebuilt Carby on it - Standard Spec, Standard Carby...
What else would I need to do to the Engine (if anything), and how well would you think it would run.
Pro's: More Power
Con's: Carbied, therefore Not Intercooled.

if the engine is bigger than 3l dont bother you will get such a small amount of boost that its not worth the hassle just turbo it the crs supercharger kits for the holden 3.8 may put out 8 or 10psi but they dont last long cause you have to run them up to there rev limit to get any usable boost on such a large engine
my mate fitted one onto a ford 250xflow and was getting 8psi untill all the teflon came off the rotors and sent the teflon through the entire engine and he lost all boost lol

The Fitting of the Super Charger would not be hard, so that is not too much hassle.
What else would need to be done, Timing and Another Tune??? What else.
I had a mate running 4 Pound with one of these in a Commodore 3.8l without any hassles, that is why I ask...
A small amount of boost, is better than no boost, but yes it is a 4 litre engine aswell.

the castle main rod shop use the toyota S/chargers on there v6 commordore kits but only push it to around 3-4psi in std kit form
you could get the 8-10 that was mentioned in the post
but would need to machine the compresser pulley smaller
not sure if its the 1.6litre 4agze sc14 or the larger 2.0litre 6cylinder unit.
do you know of the christy brothers ??
thay have the air shock mq patrol that flipped forward onto its roof at woodpecker
mic used the sc14 blower on hes gq 4.0litre diesel
not sure of the pulley ratio
but it worked out cheep & pushed the gq well
thay did a few cape york trips etc & no probs
it would be a cheep otion for you if you can do at least
80-90% of the work urself
but in the end its only a 3f so i wouldnt spend alot.
it would work out better in the long run to swap urs for a turbo diesel.
with fuel prices these days etc
wouldnt like to run a forced induction petrol 6cylinder 3000kg 4x4

the 3f has 4 main caps on the crank, it will not handle too much boosting....the later efi setup would be good to run on a forced induction setup, in my mind, you are better off going a 250 crossflow or hemi, or v8. The 3f is a boat anchor, relieble standard, but not a good platform to get power from.

Your right Dow5or - Reliable and Strong, for an old petrol engine I reckon.
3000kg car - not quite, i have no roof, allow barwork all over it...
It is quite light, compared to standard anyway.
All the air-con gear is out, from under the bonnet, and under the dash aswell.
I might actually sell it soon, might buy myself an old Chev or Dodge or something along those lines.
Then buy myself an 80 series or something similar later on.

Meldge Andrew is right, the 3F just isn't cut out for boosting, they are an ordinary motor and that's being generous. add to that, as everyone else has mentioned, the little toyota supercharger just isn't big enough to provide enough puff to a 4 litre engine. no doubt you can probably do it and do it cheaply but for the time and effort involved in getting it to run right you will be heartbroken by the time it's all sorted out. if you want to intercool you need to box your carb for blow through (harder than it sounds), and pressure regulate the fuel supply - electric fuel pump, regulator etc. if you don't want to go through the drama of boxing the carb (and you don't, trust me), then you need to set up a draw through, which eliminates the possibility of intercooling. I also doubt the cfm of the stocker carb is sufficient for boosted application - the 3F runs out of breath in stock form long before it gets close to bouncing the valves.
if you want more herbs, V8 it! it will work out cheaper and less headache in the end!
