Tyre Storage
Will be getting some larger tyres for the zook soon, and they will not fit due do insufficient clearence. My question is what is the best way to store tyres that are already mounted on rims? Does it make a difference if they are sored upright or lying down? Cheers.
personal opinion and I might be wrong but when tyres are on a car and sitting in your garage they have a fair bit of weight on them. (its considered fine to leave tyres on a car. when they are not on a car they dont have any weight so they standing up or lying down should be fine. so long as they are out of the rain so your rims dont rust.
Over time rubber will harden (and eventually deteriorate). The longer you store them the harder they will get (up to a point). Best to keep them in the dark out of the sun. If they are cross-plys they can go out of round if stored on a parked vehicle, but without weight they should be OK either way up.
