IFS Springs in rear

Post by My Lil Lux »

Put a set of IFS springs in rear of the lux today, knew i would lose about 50mm of lift as my other springs were 2" lifted, but with the extra length it almost pushed my shackles horizontal, loosing about 80mm just wondering should I move the fixed hanger forward returning the wheel base to normal, but pushing the centre down or, or would it be better to move the rear hanger back, giving lux a longer wheel base, even if only by 100 mm as when I put the springs in front will also move axle forward, what do you reckon, gonna take em back out as won't have time to get all finished before leaving for OLWW2 on friday, but any thoughts appreciated.

I haven't put this in my lux yet, haven't had time, but it is still what I'm planning to do. Would using lift blocks be an option to regain some of the height lost?

I put ifs springs in the rear of my 82 lux with 8 inch shackles and moved the rear mount backwards 3 inches. All is sweet now and flexs a lot better.. Just need to remove a load leaf..

Yep thats the plan, thanks, there back out now, haven't got time to get it all sorted before 2morrow, see ya's up there.

Phippsy, got lift blocks already, they do give you a bit of height back, thanks.

I'm gonna weld the shackle back and prob drop the hanger down a bit.

As has been said, Ive done this also...altho I havnt moved my shackle mount back at all. I will be using a trac/anti-wrap bar of some sort as soon as I pull my finger out  Im running 200mm eye 2 eye ext shackles, 2" lift blocks, u bolt flip, and Rancho 5012's. Shackles sit at about 45 degrees (+/- some). Havnt tested it out yet as I moved my front diff forwards 1 1/2" and I havnt had my front shaft modded to suit yet....another thing for me to do when i can be bothered....

Heres a couple of pics...

Not wrong, coil rear and stock springs in front, cut guards and drop the lux by about 2 - 4 inches in height.

Nice search/dig..

IFS rears flex more due to the longer leaf, coupled with a extended shackle which allows more leverage.

You will need to move the rear mount back. Or you could run a stupidly long shackle without moving mounts.
