Which fourby to buy? On a budget...

Post by bigpat »

Hey Fellas,
In needof getting a dedicated bush basher, cause the boss says She doesn't like the scracthes on the SURF.

Don't have heaps and heaps of $$$$ to spend. Prob $8,000 - $12,000 fully decked out. This is the ideal truck:

Diesel (Turbo if possible)
Rigid Axles (Of course)
2" body lift
3" suspension lift ( Will do spring over if leaf spring)
35" dedicated muds ( 36''s if cheap enough)

I can do any fabwork myself like front tube bar, sill bars, and ext. shackles etc. :D :D

Hilux, Bundy, MK/GQ shorty, 40 shorty or 60 shorty?

All your thoughts and reasons for/ against are welcome....

Cheers,

Pat

'92 Surf 2.4 TD 5 speed.
More Boost, Intercooled),
Body & sup lifts, 31x10.5 Simex M/Ts (Bigger soon) & Big Boomin Stereo!

More to come when the $$$$ sum.....

Would be cheaper to buy your boss a hatchback and keep the Surf as a real 4wd.

I just wax the sides of the car after each 4wd adventure. It takes about 40 minutes with a $20 power buffer. The transformation from scratched-up-offroader to supermarket-carpark-queen is amazing.

I haven't worked out how to polish out the dints yet though

sierra or hilux, you can build a weapon either way for 12k. sell the surf and buy a 2WD shopping trolley if you're not going to use it off road.

Get a GQ. Forget a turbo for your budget. Dont get anything smaller than a 4.2 lt GQ. They are your best bet. Petrol on gas or diesel. If you shop for a standard one between 5 to 7 for a good one you will have plenty left over for modifying.
