Hi mates,
Not having a suzuki yet but pretending to get 1 in a near future, I found this forum when searching the web for more info on this, I think, great 4x4.
Know very little on 4x4 in general, but picking info here & there, I hope to get more on this subject. But enough talk.
I´ve registered today, but already readed a few posts before that. At this point, a few doubts remain (well a lot of doubts in techichal aspects but I have time to learn after):
1-In Portugal there is the Suzuki Samurai... I presume its the sierra, for the info I´ve picked here & on the web??
2-In case of being the same (samurai-sierra) I see that, excluding those who made changes in motors, the 1.9D version is almost inexisting among members... why? Due to HP?
Also don´t see many recent veícules from members (here in Portugal the last ones are from 2001 I think...)
3-I will wait for your contribution, & then I´ll try to develop this subjects more.
thanks
Nuno RC
PS. Sorry for possible english errors & for those who may not know geography well, Portugal is a small country in Europe, sometimes people think we´re part of Spain

Hello and welcome.
The Samurai and the Sierra are the same car the mayor diference is the location of the steering wheel.
As P_Byrne said, the 1.9 TD version is not available here.
And also I think the Sierra was sold till the 98 model here.
Also if you understand some spanish go to www.suzuki88.com and find more info in their forum (I'm always writing in that one too)

Sorry to disapoint you guys but... no TD version unless pick up; D version only, in fact that´s one of my doubts; a samurai/sierra with an 1.9 diesel engine with only 64 HP ... what can it do? Some people put other engines, or has the 1.3 80HP; here he have brutal taxes in gasoline, so if one is thinking in having any type of car for making many kilometers, or 4x4, altough more expensive, diesel models, at a long term, become cheaper. To reenforce my ideia, portugueses who live near border fill the fuel tank in... Spain
There are also many older versions whith 1.0, and the recents 1.9TD, but pick-up version (not much seen arround here).
For about an year or so I have the samurai idea. Want a car who can serve as city car, I drive only 3km´s from my home to subway, need a car that can overcome the obstacles in Lisbon (holes, roads that look like trial & we park everyhere we can, the higher the car, the more places to park eheh). Besides this, want to do some weekend off-road fun, beach, a little mud here & there, small rocks outside main roads, etc.
Then I found the samurai, small, with a diesel version, not expensive in buying and, seems to me, low cost maintainance.
And most important, capable of upgrading later if I become more serious in off road experiences...
So, is it a good idea?

PS: I´ll look the spannish forum, thanks
