recently got a ARB front locker installed and there is a problem with leaking air which the compressor starts up every 15 seconds or so.
i pulled out the whole air line to find a hole but there wasnt one, and i can here air leaking out somewhere near the front diff.
2 questions
1. where could the air be leaking from / how to fix it?
2. if this is happening is it strongly recomended to not use the front locker, incase it disengages and engages on the run, eg during wheel spin.
can you take it back to where you got it installed? depending how long ago you got it take it back

If its just been fitted all the bolts have probably come loose don`t drive it in 4wd till it gets fixed,What ever the problem is the centre has to come out anyway

Pete,
Sometimes when the center goes back in if the air line inseide gets knocked, it can damage the o-ring. And they leak internally. When mine damaged the whole lot (I broke the locker). I could put my hand on the center and could feel the vibes of the oil bubbling away.
Best bet as other have said dont drive it in 4x4. And give the 4b shop a ring and he will help you out. As it has only been in there for a couple of weeks. Good chance it want cost you a cent. Most likly it isnt a workmanship problem, just some times this happens.
I know a bloke who had an 80series that would do the airline all the time.
It could be: O-ring seals not fitted/centered properly, the copper tube from the bulkhead fitting in the diff fractured/not fitted properly. If you remove the fill plug, is it easier to hear the noise? Sounds like diff center might have to be removed
When I fitted my ARB I bumped the steel line that gos to the locker inside the diff the diff and it touched the crownwheel and rubbed through. Doh.
I got a new bit of bundy tube soldered on and installed it carefully and now its all good
But if there is a leak inside your diff it should be coming out your breather unless your breather is blocked or somthing?
Paul.
Same thing happened to my rear one about a month after installation.
Compressor stayed on and air blowing out the breather in the engine bay.
Took it back and it was the O ring on the centre, they said it was faulty but me thinks it was the install, no drama's as they repaired it under warranty and has been fine since (3 yrs).
