I've got a BJ42 84 mod, with 3B diesel and 5 spd.
Wondering if the 5 spd is the same as the 2H/3F 5spd apart from input shaft, if so then i should be able to change the input shaft to suit 2H?

the bellhousing is also different.
the swap is possible but it requires almost complete disassembly of the gearbox to do it and the input shaft is not a cheap item. might be possible to use the later (H42) 4 speed input shaft, not sure if they have the same gear on them or not.
cheers

Yup, the input shaft is the same between the 4 speeds and the 5 speeds that suit the H or F engines.

Thanks guys.
I'm thinkin at the moment to either sell 3B and 5 spd for enough to just buy a correct 5spd, or sell the 3B for enough to convert this 5spd over to 2H compatible.
Anyone know a good gearbox place in sydney/wollongong area?
I've rebuilt the 4spd and transfer before, but now don't have time or proper tools, and would be good to get it done profesionally, i'll prob split transfer from 5spd, and give 5spd to shop. Have to check out what a shaft costs first.
I'll be wrecking an 83 troopy soon, prob a couple months after christmas.
Cheers - Rob

is your 3B dead? the 2H is not a better motor and the 3B is more reliable and has more power potential when turbocharged, is more efficient and will last longer. There's never really any good reason to go a 2H over a 3B.
as for gearbbox places I haven't had much luck with the couple I've used. I won't name names, and maybe someone who has had beter luck will be able to point you in the right direction.
cheers
