Hand Throttle
Has anyone fitted a hand throttle ?? I find that heal / toe sort of works but is difficult on serious rocks where you want three feet !!
Lookin at an mtb brake lever on the gear stick so I can have one foot on the brake, one on the clutch and rev the ole beast with the left hand..
any thoughts ??

they come standard in all 40 series, have a look how simple they are (diesels they came in that i am sure of) and pull it out, i am sure a man of your skills can modify it to fit on a hilux!
Yeah, mines got one too.
I have seen the yanks attach bicycle gear levers to their gear sticks for hand throttle. I guess you could get like 5 or 7 preset positions - click, click, click!
74 FJ40, 307, Hilux DBC, 35 Claws, welded rear.

how many of you guys out there use a hand throttle while wheeling?
In normal weekend driving i never use the hand trottle only because like Hypolux said hilux ones are pretty touchy.
I do how ever us it in Comps, before the stage i wind it up to 2000rpm and leave it at that, i am only driving a short distance so the engine won't get to hot.
This seems to help when that third foot is required as it has enough revs to keep the engine alive while i can play with the clutch and brake!!
I've seen the ones Gordo makes, in use by a lot of the guys in the JeepTraction club and they are pretty good. Several presets to give steady revs and all the guys and gals that have them swear by them. Mind you, you need them in a jeep cause you get thrown around so much, (that should be good for a bite). i now from experience 'cause I got out of the FtrUCK and into a Wrangler at Moab and got thrown all over and I could then see the benefit of the hand throttle.
