Well my dad has seen the proto type Pathy in Bendigo. As part of there marketing campainge. Whats worse he got paid for it and didnt even tell me so I could have earnt abit of coin. But he thinks it looks alright. And he did make some points about (so did others) saying they like live axle cars, so the ifs was a bit of a downer.
He didnt give much details other than the approach angle is still pretty good, but the departer was not the best in class. Also the front guards had a similar bulge to the curent paj. The rear was very square with a full lift up door (i think he said anyway).
But the main thing was that they shouldnt leak out what they seen (whoops). And the pathy is off to the US for a motor show.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
The 05 Pathfinder is already for sale in the USA. I've looked one over, pretty nice. Main thing of note is that it's 4-wheel independent suspension, and it offers a modest 3rd-row rear seat. It uses the R230 rear diff, same used in the TT 300ZX, Infinity Q45, and the Armada.
While the LE trim will be a repulsive leather and gadget clad abomination, the mildly-appointed SE I saw was actually quite restrained. I liked it, but I'm still partial to the 05 Xterra soon to arrive. Same underpinnings but a leaf live-axle out back, and the same 4.0 VQ40DE engine. Wish we had the diesel option!.

In search of an MQ (offset) H233b rear, housing only preferred, plus a complete GQ or GU front (4.6 ratio ideal) to be shipped to the US. Cheap! Email/PM if you can help.

Brent didnt realise you guys already had it. As the info I got was that they wernt allowed to touch it as it was being shipped to the US this week for a Car Show. SO would have thought if you guys already had them they wouldnt need to ship one. Unless this was one of the V6 diesels. They where told it was a Proto.
Starting to think there where no tech guys. Just advertising wankers who no nothing (I appoligise to all those advertising people out there - but you do know its true).
Have you taken any of the 4lts for a spin. Wondering what they would be like in a GQ shorty (just maybe they share a manifold with the 3lt TT).

I dont mind it. Would make a nice town car, with abit of touring thrown in. Dont like the idea of IFS/IRS. That kind of sucks and if we get the V6 diesel, at a nice price. Sweet.
But since I dont have the coin to buy a new car, I will just get another shitty old GQ (in a couple of years that is).

I stand corrected, the 05 Pathfinder doesn't use the R230, the Armada does. The 05 Pathfinder actually uses the 20+ year-old R200 in the rear. And even more odd, it uses the 25-year-old R180 in the front, same as used in the old 720 pickups. The R200 can handle the VQ40's power alright, but I'm surprised they used the little R180 for the front.
Makes me wonder what the new Frontier/Navara has up front. Hell, I was checking them out a few weeks ago and learned that they're still using the C200 rear axle under some of them (V6 2WD, SE trim no less) and not just the Dana 44 that I expected. The 4x4 models I saw had the D44, and the locking 2WD models will as well (no locking C200 that I know of) but I would have thought if anything might have gotten the C200 it would have the 4-cylinder. At least they upgraded the C200 to 31-spline axles a couple of years ago.
I can't make heads or tails of Nissan's driveline choices for their new models. The Titan truck got the newfangled little D44, but the H260, while old, would have been a FAR more appropriate choice for a big powerful full-size truck, especially with a monster diesel in the pipeline, and Nissan already has a factory locking version of it to boot. Same with the Xterra/Frontier(Navara), the H233B would have been a dandy carry-over and there are in-house locking versions for them as well.

Actually the R180 is much older than that since my 240Z had one and they came out in 1969......
I think they were used in the Datto 1600/510 too.
Considering that a detuned version of that engine was later used in the MQ that used the 200 diff in the rear I think it will be fine on the front.
They're actually really tough diffs and I never broke one in my years of Zed abuse.
