Ok probably getting out of a fully moded GQ wagon and into a Zuk now I want to run Hilux diffs with 4.88s these will sit on coils with a 4 or aframe rear set up not sure 4 link or 5 link front want series 3 transfer gears which vehicle would be best to do this to it will be towed and only run of road .Should i by 1 lt nt or 1.3 nt or 1.3 wt need info please if bying 1 ltr how hard and how much to fit bigger motor want to run 35s.
While im here has anyone ever put a 2.8 yota 3l motor in with the standard 5 spd and transfer case though it would be to long but they are sitting in my back yard just a thought

Good to hear that you are going to get a zook.
I think you should get a 1.3l to start with, but it doesn’t have to be a w/t because you plan to change the diffs and the spring mounts. I have lined one up for myself which is unrego’d and in fairly good condition. But I don’t think I will have the money to buy it so if you’re keen I’ll show it to you. For $850 it’s a bargain and I think it will be the kind of platform you will want to start with.
Get a soft top and fit a 6 point cage

Go an 85 to 88 nt 1.3 Good base for mods and a bit easier than the 1l due to the trans tunnel etc
Don't put a diesel in it I'm pretty sure if you search Pirate you'll find some info on toy diesels in Zuks though In that case maybe fit all toy gear cause you'll probably go toy diffs anyway if you want 35's

Wooot I love this rig.
Overkill engineerings old rig, placed third in Tuff truck and won best moddified I think.
Has lux diffs under it.

duncan wrote:What motor did it run and was it a long wheel base or a shorty would love to see this one for $850 dewse
The one for sale is just standard and will be good for your ideas.
It is short wheel base, resin top (I think) 1.3l. Has a bit of rust but not a problem if it’s a trailer queen.
I’m off on the weekend, But I assume you will be working considering you have the week off.
The one in the photo’s has to many mods to list!
The motor is a 5k (I think) out of a toyota carolla, sping over reverse shackle front, ¼ elliptic rear etc etc
Wheel base is not a problem Duncan if your changing to coil’s anyway because you will need to fab new shock and spring mounts which you can do further back on the chassis. cut on the rear
Have a look at www.overkill4x4.com for some pictures of a coil conversion.

I’ll give my mate a ring and see if I can arrange a time for you to go out their. It’s in serpentine so a small drive to it.

Another idea is to use the A frame and trailing arms from a range rover. I think your may have done this to the Nissan. Damo has done this and I think it will work well (Damo doesn’t know coz theirs nothing to test it on in the garage, plus he might get it dirty). He used king springs from memory. But I assume you plan to use the old jeep springs. I think they will be a bit to heavy duty as those jeeps weigh a fair amount. Suppose we will see.

it was a vitara rear
and a vitara rear with dana outers welded on for the front
I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure bazook ran lux diffs????
that's what it said on their old site.
edit: Then again looking at that top pic it looks like a vit rear end.
I know he used the vit setup on aztec.
