Building a 2 1/4" body lift?

Post by BundyZook »

I am trying to build a 2 and a Quarter" body lift kit i have so far figured out to simply cut the block, lathe a face square, mill the other face squarre and to size and drill holes for the bolts then put the newbolts throught and there ya go? is that everything? i havn't drilled it yet and figured i woulld ask if any of the insides of the blocks need to be threaded or anything?

yeah the insides of some of the blocks do need to be threaded. PM Spike_Sierra he did it on his zook just last week so it will be fresh in his head.

i did it about 2 months ago. pretty easy to do.

ya will need

10 blocks 65mm tall 65mm round
4 x drilled through with 12mm hole
6 x drilled and threadded with 10x1.25 thread
4 x 100mm M10x1.25 ht bolts (for front and rear mounts)
6 x 50mm M10x125 ht bolts (to screw up into thraedded blocks)
10 x rubber vibration washers to put between body and block
you will need to extend the thread on the existing studs right to the top of the stud.

i have the tap and 2 die's that i used on mine if ya want them. $30 and ill send them to ya. tap is still good but one die is almost buggered other is still ok

Yeah pete i know its illegal and i might stick them back on the milling machine and bring them down to 2" i dunno. how do you go about getting it "plated" or whatever needs to be done with main roads to get it legal? i figured a set of tyres is easy to fix a body lift aint.

Built4 i already have access to all the equipment i need. there is an upside to still being at school  oh and where abouts do i get the rubber washers from? can it jsut be a peice of rubber from clark rubber or somewhere?

thanks for the info

yeh can get em from clark rubber or just buy a cheap ruber car mat and chop it up. thats what i did.
the main reason i did a biger lift was so i didnt have to cut the studs. new bolts screw up into block at least 15mm

not if you use billit steel or alloy. Crush tube is need when you use RHS, which isn't legal in QLD anyway.
