Slowly....
The adapter plate is being water cut now, should be ready this week.
Its pretty big to fit the manual.
I dont expect the car to be ready for another 3 weeks if i'm lucky.
This has taken a lot longer than expected.

Also bubs, as soon as you can get a sump please let me know.
Do you know how long the sump is going to be?

its not for my hilux, im toying with the idea of droping one in a lotus 7 replica. the idea being halfcuts are about the same price as say an SR20 turbo (lots or rice factor) why not go alloy V8 :twisted:

The variable-valve 3UZ-FE is getting more common - maybe look for one.
Also 4.7l I think.
The last 1UZ-FE was 1997.

Just found this on a US forum, I could not add a link (requires registration) so I have ripped the message....

"Early 1UZFE engines are rated 250hp engine but with stock exhaust and intake components IMHO make about 235 flywheel hp. Stock cars with soft/smooth automatic and heavily dampened driveline and suspension (lots of weight and power absorbtion) leaves a good example making 180rwhp.

Install that same engine with a lighter drivetrain (manual tranny) more firmly mounted components, and you should get about 15% drivetrain loss. 235 - 15% = 200rwhp. A really good exhaust could gain 40rwhp. Aftermarket pistons (properly designed and prepared) to both raise compression and improve efficiency, coupled with 220 degree (at .050" lift) cams, gentle porting, a high flow AFM, and larger injectors... should yield 280-300rwhp (330 - 350 flywheel).

Now, add up the above costs (not counting exhaust) and compare it to finding a 1998 or newer 1UZFE or 3UZFFE...
300+ flywheel hp stock (255rwhp). A really good exhaust should add an easy 30 rwhp (285rwhp). Torque curve is MUCH better. Intake MUCH better. VVTi cams MUCH better. Very smooth. Newer everything. If you find a 3UZFE you will have a 4.3 liter engine. These numbers are using the stock 6350rpm redline. Add an aftermarket ECU and raise the redline to 7000rpm on the above engines and you should have at least 300rwhp. There are probably cams available from Japan. Cams and good headwork could make this package approach 400 flywheel hp. At that point you may need a bigger throttle body. A full out effort on this base package, turning 8000rpm could make 450 flywheel hp (335 rwkw for you aussies)"

I think thats ment to be 335rwhp at the end. Remember that the most common type of chassis dyno in the states read about 30% higher than the most common over hear(dyno dynamics)

i think u guys are gettin a bit carried away, this is a car that has a kerb weight just pushing 500kg, even with a 100kw corrola engine they have a better power/weight ratio than most registerable cars. anyway i've seen the 4.0L making over 1000hp all u need is a couple of superchargers hangin off the side. how much are we talking for a 1UZFE or 3UZFFE half cut anyway?

I was pretty sure that you can't get it rego'd with anything over the twin cam toyota engine in it (140Kw model is the biggest I thought)

of course if was was purely track work then it wouldn't matter - seen some with Gen III 5.7 in them - that would be deadly !

can register with a gen 3 5.7, they'res a kit mob in melbourne produceing them, called Rapid 7's, just damn expensive
