Well I'm glad you are happy with your Lokka I luved my Detroit and it improved the Paj offroad no end but as I said there were side effects.
I still prefer an ARB though...................
An interesting thing was when I started telling members of the Paj Club about the Detroit no-one was really interested because of the loss of the super select function.
Everyone was waiting for the new ARB.
I am glad there are options now for Paj owners not so long ago there was nothing unless you welded the centre now there is an ARB, Detroit & Lokka. So for the budget conscious a Lokka is a good alternative but potential buyers have to be aware of the pro's & cons of each brand.

4x4 systems lokka V ARB rd110

There is nothing like a good robust debate to get different idears and viewpoints through to others....and it also makes for a healthy forum.
One thing i would like to ask about is how much can you use the ARB110.. BEFORE there is the possibilety off brakage.....and just how strong is the Pajero front end...I might sound a bit nervise but i am on 4x4 machanic and all brakages really hurt the pocket..............That said my 2.8itd paj has never let me down yet and is extremly reliable
P.S. Haulteck traction control.........any opinions...

Yeah the Paj front end is pretty good.
The 8" front diff centre is pretty strong and is high pinion in super select models the CV's are nice and beefy and C&P are nice and thick. That said they are not unbreakable though.
With an ARB or Detroit it is a whole diff centre replacement which is WAY stronger than the original centre so it is an upgrade in strength. The Lokka is not a replacement centre so is not a strength upgrade. You will break a CV first if anything.
As I said in 12 months I never broke a front CV with the Detroit and 34"s, swaybar disconnected and 2.5" t/bar crank. But I did break 2 rear axles...............
Basically on all the Mitsu chat forums front diff/CV failure is very rare if you drive sensibly you won't have a problem.
I can't really comment on Sam's traction control system but I have heard that it works real well from people that have seen it in action.

I just luv my "clacker Jabber"
G'day guys,
I put the lokka (front) in awhile ago and its nothing short of awesome.
I've recommened them to a number of people - no complaints.
Two of my mates have them, one of them is dual locked, with lokkas.
Bitsamissin - the bloke with the surf at Cheezy had one in his IFS and will be installing one in the live axle this weekend. The Toyota LSD just didn't cut the mustard.
Rob - The Lokka will reduce damage as it allows you to idle over things that you'd need some serious momentum for with open diffs. Only problem is that you need to be on a looser surface to have 4wd engaged or you can damage your CV's or diff center. Still, that only applies on the main roads & links, its no big deal.
Well, I am sure you can all tell what camp I am in.

Old thread new comment re: Auto lockers
This thread proved to be a very interesting read.
Irrespective of who makes the auto locker (Detroit, LockRite, Lokka), they ALL rely on a higher Torque Load from an axle(L or R) - not the drive shaft - to unlock. In a low traction situation (ie mud or a good Aussie gravel road) there may not be enough Torque Load on either front axle to unlock the centre to give differential action for (vice free) steering.
This is basically the underlying reason for why the ARB Airlocker is superior as it gives the driver total control - irrespective of the amount (or lack) of available traction.
The Airlocker also gives more predictable on-road manners in the rear diff. Any good "Lead-foot" should testify to this! :-)

I'll be fitting my R31 skyline wagon with a LOKKA soon so ill be hating it then loving it then hating it and loving it all over it again. its all good. No steering round aroundabout sucks, donuts rule , drifting accidently in the wet with in laws in the car bad, limo line lockers good.
MY rocky will be getiing a rear LOKKA and if i hate it too much i'll just throw it in the front and unlock hubs when pissed off.
Happy "Real" four wheel driving.
