Steering Wheel Troubles
I went out 4wdriving yesturday and hit one big mother of a cliff face that ripped the steering wheel out of my hands. Consequesntly my steering wheel now sits at 45dgrees from centre when the vehicle (80 series) is pointing straight. I looked under the front tonight expecting to see something bent but I couldnt find anything wrong. Does anyone have an idea as to why the steering wheel has moved and could something be bent that I just have not found yet?
Thanks
Thanks
Its time for a new shaft in ur steering box.....
If u hit something hard with a wheel on an 80 it will twist the main shaft that comes out of it near the front wheel.....
If u look between the bottom of the box and the steering arm u will be able to c it is twisted.....
See the twist in the shaft..
I am on my 4th steering box now, I have had one shaft snap on me..and that wasnt much fun I can tell u!!!
This is what a busted shaft looks like too....

I'm not sure if it is safe to drive...
The twist would have to weaken it.
When I broke my first one it didnt take much to break and i think the shaft had a twist in it previously..
I know of one person where the shaft has busted just driving along the road .
I have replaced my hole box everytime because i have picked up second hand ones cheap..
I'm pretty sure u can replace the shaft but it is around $400..
The camera has nightshot so i guess u could call it infrared..
