40 series cruiser suspension and diff advice

Post by pcman »

okie my fj40 is being a pain ive now snapped 6 center bolts on the suspension and im getting over it tho im now carring 4 spares all the time lol is this normal or am i just a crazy driver ??

also my front diff was playing up last weekend hence i did no wheeling with the hubs locked in and 4 high or low engagded it was making a clunk clunk sound as i was driving slowly someone said that it could be a chipped tooth off the crown wheel but ive ripped the diff apart today and its not that tho the entire diff swivel hubs locking hubs everything has had water in it and the oil and grease has turned to milk

now the pinion is loose and leaking so i know thats 1 thing to fix but why is the whole diff filled with water ive recently replaced the axle seals and the wheel bearing seals and a complete gasket set through the diff
its got a extended breater on the diff so its got me stuffed where the water is getting in through

it's rare for the spring centre bolt to break. Something is loose and movement is causing it to break.

make holes in springs bigger and update to the bigger late model centre bolts and make sure everthing is tight

also are you sure it is a cv king pin bearings make it hard to swivel side to side if they are shaged
If you can not get there in a 4wd its not worth looking at
