Well I know my S3's are genuine....they have the correct markings.....and they work good :D
I'm only commenting from a laymans point of view, but if you don't sight them and/or install them yourself.....you have to be careful what you are buying. Only go through and authorised seller/dealer....and be very wary of buying second hand, get someone to check them for you.
I've heard rumours there's some "pretend" Aussie gear getting around the states, but that's just typical......make a good product and everyone wants to copy and flog it cheaper. You simply get what you pay for.
There's only one Rockhopper....
DRS smells like a cat-food milkshake... and wet socks... and gorgonzola cheese... all whizzed up in a blender

just out of question.
was it the gears fault?

was the t-case built with new bearings, layshaft, washers,,spacers?

i know for a fact that sometimes people skimp on these due to price,
so after many years of working these do wear out, they may look fine but often are not......

just a thought.. :D

I HOPED TO KEEP THIS OUT OF THE PUBLIC DOMAIN UNTIL THE FACTS WHERE DETERMINED.YES THE GEAR IS MACHINED DIFFERENTLY TO NEW STOCK BUT IS AS FAR AS I KNOW IS A GEN S3 ROCKHOPPER,ALL OTHER GEARS ARE STAMPED .ANYONE ELSE HAD AN IDLER TURN UP WITH OUT THE STAMP??? WHY WOULD YOU CHANGE THE 1 GEAR TO ANOTHER BRAND.liam had the hardness tested , said the gear was too hard & therefore brittle.
no sand in my trans case
AS FOR SEEING THESE IN SYDNEY MAKE THAT PERTH NOW,AS I HAVE TAKEN IT HOME NOW.
I HAVE HAD 2 SETS OF S3 1 SET FROM OPP LOCK (PURCHASED FROM LIAM),THE OTHER FROM TONY (GRP now missing in action).
THE BROKEN GEAR CAME FROM OPP LOCK (note 2 sets of gears suplied at the same time from opp lock a bbm dealer).
I'LL HAVE THE OTHER CAR FOR INSPECTION TOMORROW SO THE GEARS CAN BE COMPARED).
(LIAM IS CO/OPERATING & I"LL KEEP HIM INFORMED WITH THE RESULTS FIRST.
I"M UNHAPPY WITH 3500KMS FROM A GEARSET BUT WILL GET MY FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE I PUT SH== ON THEM
