"BIG" tyres

Post by TONKA PAJ »

Hey guys, wanting to upgrade my 265/70's with something 'slightly' larger.
I've narrowed it down to either Cooper st's, or Baja radial 2's in either 305/70/16 or 315/75/16. Plz read my profile for vehicle details. ;)

Just wanting some advice on the negative side of such an upgrade, like clearence, gearing, fuel econ., steering etc.

Any info would be much appreciated

-2.25" zaust
-16X8" rimz w. 265/70 yoko's

great for clearence but expect to lose 15 to 20% power.
Won't change fuel econ greatly on highways but around town you will be using a bit more.

I run 35x12.5/15 (315x75/16) radial Claws on my pertol GU Wagon.
the 35s kill the road performanc and High 4 performance, down one full gear and unless the hwy is flat i dont use 5th gear.
when my GU is loaded for a trip with the family taking off even in 1st puts strain on the clutch.
My low range is great due to Rockhopper Transfer gears but i would of prefered 4.6 Crown Wheel & pinoin Gears, that would of fixed everything.

These are the things you must consider when upgrading to large tyres.

Cheers Grant
