Went and saw Saturday's action and wasn't all that impressed. It was good to see all of the boys and ferog in their rigs but I think the tracks were too hard and just favoured those that can't drive and just punish their rigs by driving them big numbers. Yeah there were some top drives and some classy rigs, don't get me wrong. However as fun as valve bouncing seems at the time, waiting for the next hr while the car is recovered is Grimace.

All in all I had a good day but just though there would have been more action if the tracks were a little more do able.

Maybe sunday was diffrent... what are others thoughts?

I agree that tracks are harder than last year, and it took forever to do recoveries today as well(sunday)
Most of the vehicles had to be recovered at all events.
There were only few that drove mudhole, and I haven't seen anyone driving wombat holes.
Staircase was driven by few vehicles only.

i agree totally, but that is the nissan trials. its been the same for the last 6 years ive been going. no traction, plenty of dust covered obstacles and awards for those that dial up the numbers.

some nice patrols getting around, one coilover rear/dove tail shorty thing, another with fox shocks etc

they were my thoughts about the event. it seems that alot of drivers were pointing there vechiles at sections that were near impossible and giving it a total bootful. it was disapointing to see so many broken CV's and axles but it seemed like it was the only way to drive the courses. i saw some really good drives from dave camp and matty pasco without just gunning it. the thing that gave me the shits was when someone would be bouncing valves, humping a rock section, being timed out and then the guys next to me saying what an awesome drive it was. sorry but anyone can do that. all in all it was a good time.

i think the 3 seconds stationary and your out rule doesnt help, it doesnt encourage people to have a crawl first. the guys that win their class are usually driving pretty straight forward vehicles, 35s, twin lockers and plenty of boot. i like the wombat holes though, wish they would do something similar with rock, nice flat rock/slab/boulder garden. they've got the machines.

was a good weekend
got a little sunburnt

i thought it could have been better if i wasnt so much put the boot in and bounce and hope for the best

i have never seen redzook drive like this before
2nd gear low range 5grand :?

id rather see crawling and more driver skill

but was a verry good weekend and i totally enjoyed it

Have to agree with Stumpy and MQ080 there. There were only a handful of what I would call good drives. There isn't much skill in flat to the floor obstacle bouncing. Having said that there was a lot of crowd pleasing carnage which is always good to see, specially when I'm not paying for it.

Its a fairly good social atmosphere, but the old 3 second rule discourages quality driving. You eventually get over the sound of CV's shattering.

Agree with everyone too, way to focused on point and shoot driving, there was hardly any crawling, just lots of right boot in the gerneral direction of the obstacle. Watching the recovery teams was an eye opener too, some very "interesting" recoveries.
Had a good weekend though, was good to meet people from the board, and listen to 83lux whinge about NSW all weekend.

Nice to meet you btw Layton, heres another random pic.
I def agree about the point and shoot theory, anyone can use there right foot but it takes skill, wheel placement, common sense etc to conquer a track without carnage. All said with toungue in cheek of course while my POS sits in the backyard being fixed from abuse  .

And who would want Guts as there nav, poor Cheezy went into the Bog hole with front hubs unlocked, although they are saying it was sabotage, Good day but left early as all seem to be watching was recoveries, nice roll by Tazz, and the wombat holes were pretty good.
A lot of right foot, and sometimes not really needed, but good seeing some good rigs, and plenty of food for thought.

OI!

Go easy there, ofcourse u missed out
I give good head if ya ask nice enough :D

MQ080,
The 32's happen to be the only set of muddies ive got sitting around to put on the heap :?
All my money and time is in the other rig.

UNFORTUNATELY, i was one of the culprits for the ' point and shoot ' method, and pernsoally, i was disapointed to have to drive that way, but the tracks were made soo hard for s stock MQ that all i could do was use numbers to get anywhere.......

I think thats the hole point of trials, make the tracks hard so u have to point and shoot.

There is no way i would point and shoot in my main offroader, as i have more respect for it and id like to try and crawl it first....

But no reverse and timing out was crap, that stuffed me twice and i couldnt make the turns........

Either way, was a pretty good weekend

Just got home myself,It was good weekend away,But i will have to say.
THAT THE WAY IT WAS RUN AND ORGANISED WAS TOTAL CRAP.....
The trials are there for the average joe to go and have a go,Now you tell what average joe form any club would be willing to drive those tracks???
The majority of the tracks are drivable, but not when you have absolute gumboots marshalling that can't bloody well count and don't even bother to read the rules that they print out and hand to all competitors...
As for the tracks today,COME ON,how friggin rediculaous where those bloody wombat holes.
The bog hole i can understand being overfull of water because of the rain.
The stairway needs a dirt embankment either side of the cars at the top to stop or at least help prevent the rollovers there.
Oh and the marshall's on the stairway need to learn how to count to 3,as in the 1 1000,2 1000 3 1000,ok stop,NOT THIS BULLSHIT OF 123 ok your out.
Probably the only half sencible track there today was the tress revenge,At least you could drive it.
If you have'nt already guessed i'm pretty pissed at the majority of the weekend.
It was very very bloody obvious that there was a 1 rule for the majority and then a an OH WELL HE CAN DO WHAT HE LIKES for others....
The running order was a complete disaster over both days. This really got alot of people very upset .....
As i said the nissan trials has been running for quite a number of years now and i have attending just about most of them,But they really need to pull there bloody heads in and have a really long hard think about the way they designing there tracks and what sort of competitors they want to attract.
Oh and they really need to get themselves a new bloody recovery team,The majority of those clowns would'nt know how to recovery there heads out of there own butts......

Anyway i had my whinge.
