it was a good weekend...it did seeem to be very poorly organised and recoverys were gheey... but was a bit of fun... glad i didnt have to pay to get in thow! dont know if i woudlve liked the $80 cost.

From a spectators point I got there late Sat (and still had to pay $80) and noticed on the last event that the rules seemed to change within about 3 cars from being able to reverse to the count to 3 to not being able to reverse or count to three, whichever came first, It was pretty obvious the officials all had very different understandings of the rules

just a quick defence of the trials. it is cheaper to get into than willowglen but with bigger trucks, it is also run by the club with members volunteering there time put to build tracks and everything else.
the reason for the count out rule is insurrance related.
as for the tracks getting pretty average try putting 112 cars up your favourite track in one day and see what it looks like after that. as for the club encouraging foot to the floor driving how about the drivers walking the tracks before driving them. you stand there watching where there going and they have no idea what line they want to take, they just hold it flat and hope they get to the top.

I had a good weekend it was good to meet some people off the board and there were some great trucks there. The $80 is a bit steep I think but I still pay it cuz it's good entertainment for the weekend. I think the wombat holes were harder this year than last, I don't know if it's because they were muddy this year from all the rain we've had. Last year there were lots of roll overs but a lot of people still got 100. There weren't as many rolls in the 'Trees Revenge' this year (except for our guy in the Hilux that put it on his roof in the mud). Some of the recoveries could have been done a bit better (says me sitting on the sideline).
Couple of Funnies. The nerdy recovery team guy that slipped over and nearly went in the puddle then made a bigger dick of himself by getting up and yelling out "I didn't get wet! Suck eggs People!"
The fat guy that was doing the presentation said that he would try and hurry through the awards because he was getting hungry.

You can't walk every track,you have to stay outside the bunting.
Could you imagine how long it would take for every competitor to walk each track aswell as the long recoveries.
I saw and heard of a few discrepancies with the officials timing out drivers for hitting the bunting on the James and Bob hole while letting some of the well know big boys get away with it, and aswell as 2 guys allowed a reverse on the rock garden on event 4. ppfff this is BULL$*#T You need to keep the same rules for every driver not let your mate stretch it little bit.
And also class verification, track bars in modified don't get me wrong but ain't thet an added link.

You can't walk every track,you have to stay outside the bunting.
Could you imagine how long it would take for every competitor to walk each track aswell as the long recoveries.
i know its hard but the tracks are able to be walked friday or even when you are in the line up waiting to do the event.

the cars with the track bars where bumped up to open when the mistake was found. as for them letting some cars go then stopping others i don't know as i didn't see it. on the event i was on, the group of us running it agreed on a standard and kept to it. if there was a problem we just all discussed it and i admit i made a mistake but the other marshalls agreed with the driver and we let him continue. we did our best to keep it even for all cars.

yeah i saw those guys do a quick reverse and hit it with more stick. i haven't read the rules but i persumed it to be illegal

I was a bit dissapointed with the number of competitiors. Last year was 96 or so and it was a bit hectic, but this was 120ish. Way too many IMO.
I didnt do the last 2 events on Sunday as I didnt want to wait 4 hours in a line
I dont want to hear shit about "if you dont like it, why dont you organise it". I just think they need to organise it better. A couple of suggestions from me (in my limited knowledge of organising events)
a. maybe run all 8 events at once - less cars at each event means faster flowing. (if that means more marshalls, recovery people etc, then so be it - make each competing club suplly 1 or 2 people)
b. limit the number of competiting vehicles
Overall, I think the tracks were driveable but it required a point and shoot mentality.
I think with a bit better organisation, this could be a top event. We dont want to lose peoples interest because of a few small issues that can be addressed. We need to keep all the comps we can down here as there are not too many as it is.

And a final note - Luke and I lost a wheel off the trailer on the way up. Not cool to do that when you have 2-3 tonne behind the 80 series Also not good on King Georges road during peak hour to have your trailer wheel overtake you

Good weekend....I think that the point and shoot only really applied for the std/mod class's, but hey they have to run the same tracks that are ment to be for outlaw as well. Some of the out law tracks were a bit over the top but its the same for all of the competitors.
The bit about all 8 events is what we thought should happen next time for that many competitors....just need to orginise more officials etc.

I think they need to re-think the running order (i.e run more events concurrently) for next year or take less teams

I knew it had to be you you barstard do you know how bad i needed to piss, and trying to figure out how to get out of the tent at that time of the morning really sux ......but i will definantly doing that to someone next time i go camping
