Bent Leaf Springs

Post by Frenzal »

After a pretty awesome Sunday at Cabbage Tree and Wheeny Creek (Kurrajong area, Sydney), I've come home with some seriously bent front leaves on my 93 hilux .

Can anyone suggest a solution to stop this occuring? A mate of mine did a spring conversion to get around it but I don't have the finances or time to do this.

Is it possible to put a rear set of leaves in the front, as they're usually set up for carrying more weight? In theory, wouldn't this also push the front axle a couple of inches forward as well?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes and yes. Quite common. You'll need to shorten your draglink and move the mount on the chassis for the diff locator rod. Or just shorten it if you don't care too much for articulation.
You'll also need a spacer in your front driveshaft.
Where the f#@k did that come from
