Dyna Diffs in Lux

Post by benhl »

Hi Guys - Need some help!

Just snapped either the ring or pinion gear in rear diff by driving down the road! (dont know which one as not had it off yet but there are bits of teeth that came out the plug hole!)

Going to replace centre/s and do lockers and all that at the one time etc but heard at Mud Bulls that a toyota Dyna (small truck) dif centres are interchangable and a lot tougher than std with the Lux (94 model, 22r)

Is this correct? and if so what ratios do they come with, and where can i get some! Do they come with high pinion option?

Has anyone done it what do you reckon - Any help would or advice be appreciated! Thanks in Advance! :?:

The Dyna diff you have heard about is for the Japanise market only
They have a 12" dual wheel rear end and they have the 8" [Hilux] diff centre I have only ever seen them with a 3.72 low pinion centre
They do have a 4 spider hemisphere which is a lot stronger than the standard 2 spider centre
They look like a LSD unit

thanks so far guys - but more info and/or experiences needed, maybe something similar if not exactly the same. If i'm gonna do it it may as well be done right the first time.

What are some recommendations.

THanks
