There has been much complaining regarding the waiting around, bad recoveries, un-driveable tracks, bad calls etc, which I can understand, however these aren’t the things I remember. I was just too excited, proud and just ecstatic being there nothing else seems important anymore.

Well done Sydney Jeep Club cant wait to see the scores. :)

Its to hard
It costs to much ect ect.
If you dont like it dont go. then the rest of as wont have to wait in lines for so long.
As for it being to hard, what do you wont every truck to finish every course. All the rollovers i saw where throw driver error not the course. drivers punching it at the wrong time or continuing to drive when they maybe should of stopped and though do i wont to ***** my truck.
I was in open and only runnning 35s and all but 1 course had to run exactly the same courses as outlaw.I enjoyed the challange and out driving much bigger trucks with way bigger meats under them.
As for recoverys i know there slow and some time extremly hard to understand why there going about it the way they are but there the only club willing to do the job so give them a break, i sure there trying to do there best to get you out with NO damage although it sometimes occure.

I agree, the recoveries were long but i can`t see any other club with insurance putting thier hand up to do it. I had no problem with the price of entry and so forth and only a few things bugged me on the weekend but nothings perfect there is always going to be a few hassles along the way in such a large event. I am hopeing to have my POS ready so i can give next years trials a go.

And Dave don`t you mean 33.3inch at 35 psi  , come on boy BIGGER tyres needed!!

Thanks Shane for your support. ;)

We actually had one of our drivers Ben, (modified class) green TJ from ORI, score 100 event number two on day one when he took the outlaw option for a laugh and Craig, (modified class) white and red TJ, score 99 in the bog hole.

All weekend we were pretty consistant. :)

Comparing to last year's NT..

I drove the same level (hard enough to still drive home) this year as last year and busted plenty but still got home. Last year got off scott free with a few 100 pointers.

The tracks were harder with or without the rain. An easy judgement is to ask - how many drove this track and what class were they? Some modified (my class) tracks were harder than open. Agreed it's a good competitor that can chose his/her best line.

The waits were considerbaly longer (due to frequent recoveries).
Volunteers or not... Winching a vehicle from either end at the same time doesn't do it for me, sorry

Still a very good event I was just unlucky as plenty of bits decided it was their time (not that OBC would have anything to do with it of course...)

Running all tracks at the same time is a good idea.
Showers are a good idea.
commentators for each track are a good idea

But as said before it's a volunteer run event on a budget and I'd rather have it in some form than not have it at all.

Some good Jeep-biased pics from maddog on ausjeep : http://maddog.ozstays.com/gallery/nissan_trials_2004

Was way cool to meet up with friendly OLers and OBCers too :)

We didnt get around to the happy hour, but was wondering if there was any alcohol there.

I was sure most people were in bed by ,say 10pm.
It was a very quiet weekend, 4am sunday morning couldnt hear anything else but the sound of one of our navi's putting out the fire on his drizabone after sleep standing too close to the fire.

OK here is a compent I got off one of the officals about trees revenge and he was 100% series.

"I thought he was going to get over that last log, if he or anybody else does then I`ll just put a bigger one in for next year as I can`t allow anybody to finish my track"

That to me means, NO body is meant to score 100 points and if somebody does then the track builder has failed, not that the driver has done a great job.

The ONLY track that I thought was to hard was the open/outlaw side of the wombat holes, that was just plain stupid, sorry to the Trials comette if that herts but its the truth.

The water was to deep concidering standards were on the same track, but I know it was deep because of the rain had days before so its not anything to worry about, nobody can controll the wheather

The only complaint I really had was the waiting, the 1 recovery I had was from the bog hole and it seemed OK to me. Although I did see some dodgy stuff happening to other guys.

Really though, being my 1st comp and all, I was having too much fun to worry about any problems. Got out fairly lightly on the damage front, with a uni being spat out on the way home being my only damage....so far.

the waiting got everyone frustrated even to the stage i thought it was going to be ON.with people lining up for trees revenge in 2 different lines.

im still smiling after driving the wombat holes for a 100..even if it was the easy side ,i dont think there were many that got that far.i sucked on the rest of the events.

thanks POS for the input. hopefully we can improve the event for next year
about the that guy giving cheezy crap on event 1. it was gold the look on the idiots face when cheezy thru open his door, ripped off his harness ready to belt him :D

The reson for the count out is mostly to stop guys diggin the daylights out of the track wrecking it for the next guy. Thats why haveing 2 or 3 goes at the hill would just cause so much damage for the next car...so keep forward momentum and /or a count out

I realy dont get it when a driver gets so pissed at someone heckling him. If you cant handle someone giving you a hard time from the side line maybe you need to take up Lawn Bowls.

It happens in most sports. Its very rare for someone that is High Profile in any sport to let it get to them.

It doesnt bother me a bit. Its actually very rare that i even take notice of people chearing.

That guy started at the start line, then we did that little loop and he was there at the point where you wait, and he was at it agian. Then when you come back up the hill and wait agian he was right there at it again. I looked at my watch and thought to myself I give it 10mins. At about 6mins I looked at the offical and asked him what would happen if one of us hit him, all the offical did was turn around  . Well since we had a long wait at this spot for a rig to be recovered we got to 15mins and cheezy still hadn`t done anything and I was shocked  then at the 16min mark off came the harness and the door was opened very quickly, I turned to the crowed and the little fark was allready about 50mts up the hill

Ruff I`m the same as you, but this guy was just way over the top and on top of that he was less then 2mts from the side of the mav basicly leaning in the window, he was that loud mark and I could hardly even talk to each other. Then even after all this and we had finished our run and on our way back to camp to fix some loose bolts he was at it agian from about 10mts away, even I felt like belting him by this time and I can`t fight my way out of a wet paper bag

I`m 99% certain that if he was doing it to anybody to the same extent that it would get to them after awhile.

hypolux wrote:yeah i was also dissapointed by a few things..

like old yella says bout the dudes wif track bars being in mod class... y wasnt here vehicles inspected properly at scrutineerin ??? seeems simple 2 me ??

i believe that there was WAY 2 many cars 4 the amount of people runnin the show 2 handle, the best way 2 overcome this is limit the amount of competitors, the even will run smoother coz of less congestion and the competitiors and spectators will b more enthused..

the thing that really pissed me off bout waitin 4 events was, 95% of time either me or my navi was within site of my rig will quein and we missed out on watch alot of the action, now there were lots of people that did this and wen we get upto the start gates 2 b pushed back in the line byt he likes of the more well known drivers like duncan scott and the other more well known guys because they couldnt b bothered waitin way down the line and not c anything and just went straight to the start gate thats BULLSHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if they not in line 2 bad and like the marshalls continually said all day if u not at your rig and u get que jumped then 2 bad, mayb u should flash your money elsewhere big boys and get a life.

the other thing that was really noticable this year was the different rules 4 the little guys and big guys. i got stopped 4 hittin a pole and 3 guys right behind me did the same and got let thru wots the deal ????

also i noticed that some people where allowed 2 take reverses or multi points turns at different stages on the track than others i witnessed a few people that took back and fills where i got stopped 4 not bein able 2 make the turn coz of my steerin...

all that aside i did have a good weekend, its just that there r a lot of issues that need 2 be addressed 4 next year

PS. rezook, i didnt even start my last event on sunday nite till 545

The guy we did catch with the track bar admitted to just having put it on. We were told there were others. We said that if they could get us the car number we would re-look and re-class the car...No one came back to us. We do not claim to be scrutineers just class verifiers. We rely on the guys information on their forms to be true and honest. We simply do not have the time to fine tooth every vehicle. We worked till 11pm Friday night, approx 140 vehicles to look at.
Two teams were granted entry after we were had closed off. Their entries were lost and they had proof they had sent them in way early. We couldnt say no. Next year I am going to insist the mail is redirected to me personally so I can determin who is the last club in and then thats it. From the mailbox this is too difficult. Definately were too many this year but this was not suppose to happen just couldn't figure out who we wouldn't allow. I would be supprised / disapointed to think that marshalls were favouring anybody, would only hope this could have been an error or an oversite. If anyone did do a back and fill where they shouldn't have been, then they should have been deemed out keeping in mind some back and fills were permitted on certain events and some chose not to use them then I will not make excuses for the marshall, that is bad.
thanks for the input , this is all taken seriously and hopefully amended where possible.

Good self control Tony, but what would you do when he throws something at you and hits you after 15 mins of yelling (jump it, give it shyt ect ect) even people on the side line wanted to hit him (Nick Mannell, Pete Antinac, Mick Hingety ect ect) This was an attack, man if you want to sit too piss go for it but I wont take people throwing shyt at me. I have a short fuse and he was lucky I didnt run over him. Later his mate told me he was a dick and always did this :?: I gave him a friendly talking to around the fire a few hours later and day 2 he never came near me. (funny that)

Sorry Mark. I wasnt there so i dont know what happend exactly in this situation but i beleive if i was in a similar situation i prob would have stopped the vehicle where it was and either had the official on the course remove the person and if this official would not i would have asked to speak to an official that could. Heckling is one thing. I could prob put up with a lot more than you but if it became physical then further steps would have to be taken but i dont think violence is the way to fix the problem. It only make you as bad as the person that started the situation.

However around the camp if he had come back for another serve things may be different ;)

I just dont think violence could do our sport any good ever.

Just remember there are a lot of people that look up to you and a lot of them would change there opinion real quick if you were to jump out and flog a spectator.

Sorry not trying to condemn you just offering some advice.

on sunday it was a bit more organised but still way to long i had done 2 events buy 1:00 so i just went and packed up after that didnt run the last 2

My brother was the last to compete on Sat , event 3, just on 7:30 ish. By this stage the track was cut to pieces, and with Cheezy just before him not making the first clinb after two attemps, good points looked grim. With some neat driving & pas as needed, he maxed out at 85 points. The late finish was the same on Sun, 7 ish, less teams, & cars need to run in number order, to stop cue jumping & arguments would be my two main suggestions. On the recoveries, so teams worked well together, sone not so well. I got sick of seeing the tlccrt puting cars into more thouble than just hooking as snatch on them and pulling them up the hill, they would try and reverse them out only to have them get caught on the same rock or tree as the 20 cars before them. Don't blame you 4 not doing last 2 events as we didn't get packed & loaded untill 9:30.

Well done Wendy, dont let the wimps convince you to build lame tracks.
Although tyre size should have a far greater influence on which class you compete in rather than how many V8"s you have under the bonnet etc.

Competitors As for scrutineering you are supposed to do your own and make sure your team members has it right as well. If you are not 100% sure ask :!:

I think I saw this guy giving everyone else shit aswell. Yelling to Glen Dobbin "Show us your shocks" "Carm awn...Pump it up" for the whole time he was parked in the waiting area. Carpark hero comes to mind. Someone asked him where his car was and when is he going to have a go and he shut up for a while. Said something like oh umm aww I was only cheering him on...
