Hey all,
I know it has been discussed a bit before but a I still couldn't get a definete answer to my questions from the archives.
I am looking at getting kaos4x4 to do a Calmini 3in body, 3in suspension combo on my 91 SWB Vitara and wanted to know if anyone who's had it done can tell me what they think about the calmini lift kits. I hear they are a bit stiffer to begin with but should loosen up with time (some people say they do, some say they don't).
Are there any other negative or positive things that anyone can add. What specific problems are common with these lifts if any? I will probably be running 31's after the lift.
I hope to get into some hard trails after the lift but will not be going to extreme as the Vitara still needs to be my daily driver.

I've scrapped the vit and have built a sierra.
The Calmini suspension works very well, 3 " body lift i would not do, 2" maximum.
The only reason i got rid of the Vit was the CV issue. The damn things just go pop. If you want a daily driver and capable weekend wheeler go SAS on the Vit, buy a sierra or (dare i say it) buy a solid axle Hilux.

I just put the Calmini on my LWB after having the OME on there. I have the winch bar and winch on there as well which is what the Calmini was designed to be run with. I have kept my OME struts as I believe they are the best around and have more travel than the Calmini. The kit seems to be well made and was pretty straight forward to install. It has a much lower spring rate than the OME so feels quite soft and gives more roll. The springs are not designed for left and right and I seem to have a slight lean to the right which may be remedied by swapping sides or the addition of a small coil spacer. Oh yeah, make sure you use plenty of grease when installing otherwise the squeaks will annoy you. It flexs better and has a nice balance but I wouldn't push it as hard at speed. The Calmini does have a reputation for the springs settling over time so we'll see. Am I happy to have it on? yes. I was running 31's with a 2" bodylift and 2" suspension and some minor trimming and tapping (actually had some 33x9.5's on there briefly). The 2" bodylift is a lot less involved and I believe most states tend to frown on 3".
