Had mine fitted last Thursday at Total (awesome service by the way) aslo greg and peter. We took them out over the long weekend and they were awesome I was doing stuff in 3rd low where before it was 1st low. 1st is now below walking pace and it makes straddling ruts and climbing edges a breeze. One word of advice make sure the transfer case is well and truly mounted with extra braces as you can feel it winding up as you descend in 1st or try and climb something

I think the biggest problem was that the speed i was driving at was peeving the people behind me... i just wanted to crawl over everything much nicer on the clutch too - just got the car to take off and there was no more clutch work required until i wanted to stop
hey grimbo, i want a rematch on the crawl-a-thon... i'm gonna put my idle down to a bare minimum to see if i can beat you this time

greg any time mate i still think I'll be slower as i have the 4.1s and my first gear is a little lower too. Interesting to note i had it in reverse just chugging along and we had three guys hanging on trying to stall it out and it was dragging them along the ground.
5th gear is a very welcome return on the highway now i can cruise at a 100 in fifth at about 3000 rpms

Now put in some 5.1 diffs......
223.5:1 anyone?
That's my ultimate dream at the moment..
mmmmmm lots of broken bits. Why do you want gearing that low, when would you ever use it. What I have at the moment is pretty good and what Peter in our club has is probably at an optimum, Series 3 with 5.12 diff gears he can use first low all the way thru to 5 th low for a variety of different terrains anything lower would be pointless really.
We were able to crawl stuff nicely but anything lower you just can't generate the traction and the wheels tend to just spin. Plus we were straing transfer case mounts and cvs axles etc lots of nice creaks and groans. Lower and you WILL bust stuff so you'll need to beef
also you won't be able to drive it on the road without some huge tyres. Currently Peter is running 33" claws and with his gearing to run at around 90 -100 his poor Vitara engine is revving at about 4500-5000 rpm. You'd need a rotary to handle the revs you'd be generating with that gearing.

Toy Axles, either 4.88's or 5.29s, the Thorax is 1:1, Neutral or 2:1 so on the road not affected at all but the 1.3L version is still in the works...
I like to go slow, real slow, just can't do it now...I think it'll be put in the hoppers, and axles/r&ps, and see if it's good enough..
See how I go, 6:1 will be the first mod if I can ever find a bloody zook hehe.

So I take it you have the front axle sorted?
Nice work. I bet coming back down was a little bumpy.
Yeah I agree it's as good an add for the front axle as it is for the gears!!
Gone drag racing......
