GU coil cab-tyres,locker or winch

Post by mr Z »

a mate of mine is fitting some extreme treckers to his coil cab, and i cant have him driving further than me!

so should i upgrade tyres? (currently have 285(33) mtr's not sure if 34-35's will fit on coil cab with 2 inch lift?

fit a front locker? (rear lsd seems pretty good so far)

or fit a winch? (so i can at least drag mysself further than my mates)

go the front locker.

More of an investment for the future use of your car as its removable to put std gearing back in should you sell your car.

And yes.. with a locker you'll be able to keep up provided your mate has similiar setup as yours except for the tyres.

One thing ive learnt over the years.

No two drivers are the same..

regardless of what they have.. they can always outgun each other if they drive it right ;)

Eg ive seen unlocked rigs drivin up where twinlocked couldnt go up

I reckon tyres for victorian mud. if it was queensland or nsw then it would be front locker for the rocks.

front locker, your tyres will do for the moment.

if you wheel with someone else all the time you should be able to get away without the winch.

i would go the winch, lockers and tyres can get you into more trouble but a winch can get you out of pretty much every thing. and if you go touring it's a nice security.

Go the winch, at least it can get you out of trouble. Lockers and tires can get you into more trouble as you are usually further off the track when you get stuck

that is true, lockers and tyres get you further into the shyt getting stuck worse, whereas a winch can pull you out

best bet is to get em all

I'd go locker. If your with mates a winch isn't overly useful.

But for the price of a winch plus the bar to fit it in and perhaps upgraded battery system you could probably get a front locker, compressor and a hand winch.

already got the bar, batteries, and compressor so dunno which way to go yet
winch is still the most $$$ (might have to upgrade to heavy front springs?)
but might com in handy one day

Yep it might. Whereas a locker you'll use probably every trip. Plus it makes a cool noise.

you should fit 34's with no lift
hey hottie you don't need a winch, you just need someone with a black mav chained to a tree with a winch cable via a snatch block to pull you out ;)

must get me a winch

Fit some 34's then get a winch .... or get a winch then get 34's... or do a hottie and just buy all at once
