TB45/TB48 into GQ cost?

Post by TUFFRANGIE »

Gday everyone,
Some more questions for you all, thanks

How much would it cost to buy these engines (TB45 & TB48) and all the required bits and put it into my gq shorty? (If 4.5 and 4.8 are similar price I would choose 4.8)

I think i could install it myself but i would struggle with wiring it up so if i did the install and got someone else to do the wiring approx cost?

What if someone did it all for me?

Do they bolt up easily to a manual 4.2 box and transfer case?

Would i better off buying a wrecked gu with all the stuff?

Is there a better engine option for the same price? I went in huddy's shorty with the 4.5 and was quite impressed, also it is all nissan still and not that radical conversion.

Lots of questions :) Hopefully my engine isn't stuffed and it won't come down to a transplant, but just in case i am trying to work out some figures.

Thanks
Rob

I know that Alljap in Virginia brisbane had a 4.8 not sure if it is sold or not. Was quite a few grand from memory, and didn't have a computer with it (probably both a blessing and a curse).

Bellhousing will be different, but box & transfer are basically the same as you have the TD42.

What about the Toyota (Lexus) V8's ? I saw one in an old Escort racecar recently and it was so sweet to hear etc, with a great tune for power on it.

a mate is doing one at the moment. think $3900 for motor, $700 for key barrel and programming (left under dash in on position) - anti theft.

then there's installation, wiring, ehaust etc. close to 8k all up i think. i will ask him next time i see him.

thats why i went with a gen 3. doing it all myself
5500 motor complete
285 rear drop sump
1300 marks kit
1100 mafless tune inc dyno tune (300 for just anti theft removal)
wiring free
exhaust 250 inc headers - all myself
airbox etc free

total $8345 for close to 300 kw (mines ~285 on regular unleaded)
or $7735 no tune.

also get 140 amp alt, and reduced weight. also electricity and chevy love child sound ;)

however if you are paying to get it done the patrol's would be cheaper
cheers bru.

Stick with a Nissan engine and use the VH45... It is not a hard conversion and you can still get bits at the Nissan dealers...

Go the 4.5 or 4.8 mate. it would still have all of god's own nissan bits in it, it would honk along, slurp less fuel???, and it would be different!
