Its on Waterford Tamborine RD. Just get on Waterford Tamborine rd at the Waterford end and start following it. When you come to the first roundabout you are there. Should be out front of the IGA supermarket.
just got home 1/2 hour ago
lots of carnage.
only 7 cars out of 24 reached the end.
we were the last ones through checkpoint 6.

Harmonic balancer shat itself at checkpoint 5
My fault - obviously didnt tighten the harmonic balancer bolt tight enough when i rebuilt the engine, hand tightened against a tree with a 3 foot pry bar. Going to get an electric 400nm ratchet for the replacement job.
It shook itself loose and ripped it apart (timing case may be rooted as well).
Resulted in having to remove harmonic balancer and driving half a km to drop the car off safely.
Dropped out at checkpoint 5.
Was an awesome run, was very happy with it.

Thanks for showing up guys and girls it was good to see so many great trucks roll up at the start. Also good to see that the police didn't get too carried away with what could have been a big night for them.
A few thankyou's to go out. Thanks to Phil, Chris, Glynn, Rod, Steve, Nat, Brett, Tony, Rod and anyone else I may have missed. Thank you too to my dear wife Lisa for putting up with me being missing in action yet again. We forget to thank them too often.
Brett at On Track 4wd Centre and Rod at One Stop Suzi shop for all your support all the time. Owen Barton and the boys from MIDAS at Coopers Plains who lobbed a raffle prize at us of a 3" mandrel bend exhaust we really apreciate your generousity and would like to see a return for your investment so anyone looking for exhaust work please contact Owen on 07 3277 1433.
As for the results you will have to wait until next week as Steve from the last checkpoint has to review the scores and fax me the results. I will let you know as soon as I do.

Well we limped over the finish line after we shattered a free wheeling hub on CP6.
Broke some of the mudflap chains here and there. Dented the tray (again) on the bumcrack (CP5), which we winched up.
CP4 was cancelled.
CP3 we winched up after our first attempt failed.
CP2 we skipped as it looked tight and difficult and they were recovering a (broken?) Suzi at the time we were there.
CP1 we took the easy mud run without dramas.
On the route around the place we had a couple of pucker moments but got through OK, some big washouts around the place!
Cheers
Steve
I must apologise to everyone who failed to contact me on the night. After CP1 we rescued two roo shooters bogged in their cruiser which took ages and then went to finish toilet papering the map only to find part of the last section suffered storm debris on a colosal scale. Had to go and find a chainsaw and remove the offending trees and branches. By the time I finished that I was so hot, stuffed and chaffed that I just stayed at CP6 which must be in a mobile phone/UHF black hole. Phil was in range most of the night but I have to apologise to Tom and Steve and everyone else who tried to get hold of me.

Great night while it lasted.
It started out with the local authorities of the blue uniformed type visiting us at the shopping centre car park at logan village before we even got under way. Just what you need when you have 25 vehicles(most of which were highly modified) sitting there ready to drive on public roads. So with that out of the way and all the meet and greets over and done with we headed of at 7pm for what was supposed to be a long night.
Check point 1 was a bog/water hole, nothing to talk of really, and I was first to drive it. Yes my navi did walk it first and had lilly pads floating up around his ears. You can imagine how good he smelt when he hoped back into the truck .
An hour or so later we came to check point 2.
Now I don't know what the guys that marked the track were thinking but this check point was WICKED to say the least. Albi was the only one to actually drive the full course. It was a very challanging course but to make it as narrow as they did, made it extremely hard but also very good to watch Albi drive the full length(even if it was in a extremely well set up 79 series cruiser - this thing is almost buggie like with the angles it is capable of).
Onto check point 3.
Now I had been having trouble with my rear air locker all night (only engaging when it wanted to) and got stuck in check point 3 and also managed to break a rear axle here.........wonderful .
So at 1am I had to call it a night. Choppa was also having trouble with his ute cooking and so we both decided to limp our arses back to civilisation.
I have the rear locker oput and will be dropping it off tomorrow at ARB to be either fixed or replaced and the axle side of things is sorted out so I'll be back in action again next weekend. 8)
Sorry to here about your dramas Tom as you seemed to be going really well when I turned my arse around and headed back to town.
Good effort by all the rest of the patrol boys, Shane-Big Red, Michael-WHITEWIZARD, Steve-Stripped Tomato, etc.
Here are some more shots. (sorry about the quality cause I had the camera on the wrong setting and didn't realise until I got home and downloaded the pics).

Logan extreme night run 2004.
Checkpoint1:
Nat made us drive into the 500 to 700mm deep swamp and stop before we could take off, it was still reasonably firm even though we were near last to go through it.
It got fairly muddy about 50 metres or so in as the water got shallow and the ruts were quite pronounced by then.
The last section to the next checkpoint was an excellent bit of track as it traversed heaps of rock slabs and boulders.
Checkpoint 2:
The challenge was to drive along a gully then up the bank around a tree then drop over a one metre rock ledge back into the gully.
Alby had several hard goes to get up the bank then couldn’t get through the last section due to the depth of the hidden hole in the middle of it.
A few of us filled the hole and he drove through and got high centered just out the end of the track … man that 79 has some wheel travel, was funny to watch when he stalled it … it started to tip over without the air pressure being kept up to the suspension.
We had a few goes to finally make it up the bank but gave the rest a miss … too hard for this little black duck.
A funny scraping sound turned out to be the handbrake backing plate ripped backwards out of position and crunched up, we couldn’t repair it so had to just put up with it.
Checkpoint 3:
When we arrived BIGGQ was bogged up to his grill in a muddy corner and had a broken rear axle by the sound of it.
Alby pulled him out of the bog then Linc reversed the big rig back up the bank.
Several of us threw a heap of logs into the bog hole to be able to get through as the hillclimb out was the challenge.
We nearly didn’t make it through the bog hole then lined up at the bottom of a very steep hill with a few large logs at the top at an angle to the track.
We launched it up flat out in second, hit the logs at the top [back wheels were still only halfway up] and bounced/slid into the big tree stopping all momentum, we winched the rest of the way over the top to avoid losing too many points.
Checkpoint 4:
We looked for ages for this point and eventually realized they had told us at the start it was cancelled … must have been funny watching half a dozen trucks driving up and down one certain stretch of road … one particular owner of a property with an open gate on the road wasn’t thinking it was all that funny though.
He was allright about it though when we put over a call on the radio to tell everyone else in the area not to try his driveway.
Checkpoint 5:
We had to drive up the waterfall track to the bottom of the bumcrack for ten points.
I slid sideways on one climb and couldn’t get a run up to make the climb and wore a few mm off the swampers trying to dry them off, Believe me it wasn’t from lack of trying but eventually we had to winch up.
Chris wood drove straight up behind us in one go.
Driving the bumcrack was worth another 30 points but I didn’t reckon we had a snowballs chance in hell of getting up so we only gave it the one good go to get as far as we could then winched the rest of the way up.
It was quite interesting driving up with water in the creek so we drove all the way to the very top even though I think we were only supposed to turn out at the first exit, couldn’t see anyone else’s tracks so we had a good unmuddied track up.
We watched chris having a go for a while then continued on through a maze of tracks in the creek down at the bottom of the hill then followed the map across to the northern end of Ormeau where we found Rod with broken steering on the buggy.
We then got a call that chris was stuck just above the bumcrack with a flat battery and had run out of diesel due to the angle he was on.
We left Rod with our vise grips and drove all the way back to the top waterfall track and started driving down it to find Chris, we finally fond him just above the bum crack and drove down to him to connect up the jumper leads.
The patrol finally fired up and we reversed back up the waterfall track then headed back over to the northern end to see how Rod was going but he was gone by the time we got there.
We followed the track towards the next checkpoint but managed to break the chain holding the mud flap on a stump in the creek.
Checkpoint 6:
This track was a short course style event up a rough rocky creek bed complete with flowing water.
We started with 100 points and used our “wild card” on it to double our score.
We lost momentum on the first rock ledge but kept into it until it started moving again then followed the bunting up and over all the rocks and ledges to a sharp “U” turn then started back down the creek again through some huge rocks where we bent up the right hand mudguard stopping the door from opening and also bending up the side rail.
We scraped and banged our way down the creek then turned left into the exit hill.
We tried to drive over the rocks but slipped across and got hung up on the diff.
We winched over and continued on to the finish

Very well done by the sounds of it Shane. Really annoyed with my truck (the locker more than the axle side of things) would have loved to keep on going but with the trouble I was having and not knowing what coming up in front I thought it best to call it a night and limp home. I'll be ready to go again by next weekend though
Cheers

Thanx Andy, we had a great nite. Didn't attempt any checkpoints but it was interesting watching those that did. Suffered some carnage..bent the steering arm big time & a log tried to push its way into the car via the passenger sill.
If we can put one man on the moon, why can't we put them all there!!
Same thing by the sounds of it Shane. It looks/sounds like the locker is OK though. Sat the carrier assembly back up there and put another axle in and locked it up and all seems to be working well again but I'm just going to drop it off at ARB tomorrow and get Mark or Wazza to have a look over it anyway whilst I have it out.
Hope it is just the axle but if not well shit happens doesn't it. I'll sort it out either way and be ready for the next time anybody wants to head out somewhere.
