Brakes squeeling like a ba#####

Brakes squeeling like a ba#####
I've just had new pads and disks on the rear of my defender. They fitted shims to prevent squeeling.
Result........the brakes squeel intermitently, sometimes extremely loud.
The guy at the workshop told me its because LR are not allowed to use asbestos in the pads anymore.
Anyone got any ideas how to fi this? ..

Wouldn't put a lot of faith in this "workshop".
Asbestos pads haven't been available for many years.
They are just using that as an excuse.
As Tom suggests, use grease.

Oils leaks are a factory option to prevent rust!

Have fitted Bendix 4wd pads to the 80RR, and they don't squeal.

Thanks for the replies, it seems to be very random whether your brakes squeel or not.
Havent done anything to mine yet, they were squeeling like sh*t at the weekend off roading, but have been quite the last couple of days driving to work and back.....maybe they are worse when warm.....or maybe its just another bloody land rover random event....
