Half Door Tech
Half Door Tech
Im about to start cutting up some doors that ive got lying around, and im wondering if anyone has any links to some half door tech?
Most people just say to follow the stock line, but it looks like it may cut the latching mechanism that keeps the door closed. If looking from the end of the door with the lock, the screw appears to be in line with the cut.
Cheers
Richard

I simply cut off the window frames and riveted some aluminium mushroom moulding on the top, and removed the glass (broken) and the regulator
I could not see the benifit in following the line on the doors as the work/reward ratio was up the shit!
most of the time I have no doors, I save the half doors for mud in summer (see my avitar)
Peter.

but it looks good on your car

I know how hot it gets in your tin shed Graham
we all know that you take the telly and VCR out to the shed and wack it on the bonnet, play someone elses 4x4 tapes and pretend it is you (all the time making Vroom Vroom noises)
for a man who has made 3384 posts, with his car running for only 175 of them, you are a sorry, pathetic excuse for a rock god

it would be a very wide shot (or an old one)
the doors are at the back of the shed, the transfer case is on the bench next to the rear diff on top of the fuel tank beside the front left gaurd inside of the roll bar,
the wireing loom is hanging from the rafters with the brake lines, and the windscreen rubbers,
half the engine is at the machinist the other half is still at the wreckers as he hasn't even purchased it yet,
the tyres are in the trading post,
heck half the car is in his imagination
and the the dog uses one of the seats as a bed on the back porch!
but it will be regoed next week I promise
Peter.

Only driven on road once without doors, and got hassled by cops. Was lucky though and the cop just sent me home (only round the block from my house). Thats in Newcastle though (NSW)

I think I might be able to get my hands on another full set of doors, I'm not sure exactly sure weather they are in good enough condition to be used for what you want them for, but I'll find out on the weekend. If not I'll put them up on the 4 sale section..
As for driving in QLD with out doors, I think you need to have harnesses to do this, not the normal sash type seat belt. I'll ask a copper mate to find out for sure.
