mounting suggestions

Post by zukin »

ive got some xgts for the rodeo i dont want to buy a bullbar as yet. i was considering bolting a angled piece of stainless behind the number plate and somehow bolting 4 bolts threw the number plate and bumper to a steel plate somehow. would over time the plastic in the bumper become to weak because there would be alot a leaverage over time maybe would cause a problem???
any other thoughts if that one isnt any good??

I will try and translate what you have just said and Im guessing it is that yoiu want to put some lights on your Rodeo but dont have a bulklbar currently..........how do you mount them??

OK, well Im not familiar with the front bumper bar of the rodeo however from what you have written it sounds like its plastic.

Have a look under the bumper bar and I suspect u will find that it is supported with 2 metal brackets at the front and quite possibly just screwed via the plastic at the sides.

Where the bumper is attached to the metal brackets at the front........is it possible to drill right through the bumper bar and then attach the lights using the same holes and in effect your light bolts would also be holding the bumper bar on...........hope that makes sense.

alternately look under the grill..........can you remove the grill and then put a bracket mounted under where the grill goes and protruding forward for the lights to mount on and then replace the grill.????

Mounting them direct to the plastic bar may not be good as it may wobble more..........definitely try to mount in metal.

hope that helps mate.

From memory, there is bugger all to mount to unless you cut come dirty big holed in the bumper. if you want a bullbar, dont bother with the wrecker, i ended up geting a bar from OL for cheaper. other option is mounting some light up at the back of the cab on the tray bar thing??? better than nothing.

umm well i think im going to give it a shot 4 bolts threw the numberplate threw the bumper into a steel plate behind the bumper with 4 locknuts just to make it alittle more difficult for the pricks to steal my lightforces. ill post some photos when ive done it if it all works out if not im up shit creek
