80 Series headlights dramas

Post by majaciem3 »

Last week i lost the headlights on the way back from the bush. I put it down to stuffed up main headlight relay. I did a stupid thing and forced it and in turn burned the headlight swich. Now i got the new one and new relay but still no go on the headlights. The circut from main relay to headlights is ok. I can flash from the main switch (low + hi beam together) ,my tail lights and dash ones are ok. New swich first click is tail (position)lights. That is working fine, but second stage -headlights low beam or hi beam is not working. I have power from battery to relay so fusible link is ok. Headlights swich has 3 wires. One of them is live from relay. I guess that the swiching is negative on this wehicle but i can't get the dammned headlights to come on. Any ideas?
