2.8TD into GQ SWB

Post by slosh »

Hi all,

Looking to buy clapped out GQ shorty and put the 2.8 TD I bought from GQ a while ago. Assuming I get my hands on a cheapie, it will most likely be 4.2 petrol? What's required to fit the diesel in, and should I adapt it to the bigger box or just bolt in the whole drivetrain I got here?

BTW I know it's not the greatest motor, but I need economical daily driver- no big mods planned for this one.

Thanks for any help,
Josh.

I don't know anything about it but I have read a thread discussing this in the "engine conversion" section in the "GQ/MAV (Y60) Bible" which is at the top of the Nissan forum.

Thanks MEX. Already read that- assumed it was for putting in 4.2 diesel... I suppose it would be very similar job(although I'm pretty sure they are different length drivetrains?).

Probably my main question is will the gearbox crossmember and engine mounts need to be relocated?

Cheers,
Josh.

gearbox crossmember lines up - may have to run spacers to lower it a bit.

drivers side engine mount needs to be relocated 60mm ish to the firewall
