I hear it has been tough on winches. It may be an exageration but did Kym replace 5 winch motors during the event. Many breakages and some stages closed due to high risk from bad weather. No one free from DNF's. Winner declared today. Australia represented by Kym Bolton and Bevan Butler in their cars...well done guys and Wayne Smith is Navi for Bruce Hughes...formidable team.
Ok heres some results for ya's-top 10

DVD is due out in NZ before Xmas...fingers crossed.
Pics will be on www.warlordautosports.com after this weekend hopefully. Just scroll thru to find the right 4wd event.
I think the two Aussie teams did over a dozen winch motors between them...hopefully Kym will be back next year with a hydraulic winch or atleast a PTO, think Wormy (Norm) is bringing his V8 GQ back next year too!!
Cheers

Is a fairly good event.....too much carnage for my liking though. People going out and thinking they can win a 6 day race on the first day! Stupidity reigns supreme!
Talking to Wormy last night....there was a combined total of 24 electric winch motors (8274) burnt out by competitors this year!!! Bring your PTO / hydraulic next time :-)
Cheers

hi guys want to come from OZ!! to do that event can you give me some info eg dates rules ect I have the gu on off road images jumping into the cars !!!!!!!!!
BigPig,
The Denny's 2005 event will be held from October 23 - 28th (dates inclusive) around the Auckland region in the North Island of NZ.
Rules are unlikely to change much from this years event...rules can be found at http://www.4x4challenges.org.nz/
For pics of this years event, look up http://www.warlordautosports.com/ . He is being a bit slack at the moment, and so the pics should be up by this weekend....fingers crossed.
For people to talk to about the event, I suggest Kym Bolton / Robert Marks as they've attended them all. Stephen Booth (Chunk) / Mooney, Beven Butler / Norm Walters, Huddy / Trent Lean and of course Wayne Smith as well.
Our tracks have plenty of mud and clay, so forget electric winches unless you run a Suki....big Nissans and Toyotas are just too damn big for the amount of winching you have to do. Don't be surprised to have up to 10 winches during a single stage.....22 stages later and she all adds up!!!
Cheers

Scott,
It shouldn't be a problem getting gas for your rig. A few of the turbo diesel boys run lpg injection and never have an issue finding a servo that sells it. The courses are run in some fairly remote areas...but you've always go to go thru a town to get there and can refuel each day.
Suggest you talk to Wormy (Norm Walters) and Bevan Butler about shipping costs since they've just been thru the process. Let me know if you need their contact numbers and I'll dig them out.
What sort of vehicle are you looking to compete in??
Cheers
