Place to have wheels modified for offset in Bris

Looking for more offset... Has anyone done this in Bris and got a good deal?

I Spoke to Race Engineering and they want $144 (I think) to increase offset, including new band. I'd have to get the new band painted or something though, and remove / refit the tyres. So for that sort of money, wheel spacers are looking a little more attractive at $170 each.

Whaddayas reckon?

i got mine done about a mouth ago at Ray Ballo (?) eng. down the coast
stuffed me around on price but they, in the end, about $80 a rim
not very good workmanship and the price thing pi**ed me off but that is still cheaper then that
so yer give him ago for yourself

83lux, thanks mate. Any probs with the rims so far? What exactly is bad about the workmanship.

Does anyone think it would be less noticeable to the coppers if you have offset rims instead of wheel spacers? or vice versa?

like where you mechine out the center there was little bits of metal sticking out like spikes (not ground back)
welds look shity

they are good i hope have not really used them

If an inspector notices wheel spacers there is no mistaking that they're illegal.

A well modified wheel doesn't stand out as illegal - an inspector will need to measure offset or track, and know the applicable limits.

I've not had a run-in with inspectors, so I don't know if the odds are really that different.

No it is not, on a 4x4 with rigid front and rear axles (i.e. a real 4x4), you are allowed to increase the track by 50mm over the widest track specced by the manufacturer on that vehicle.

I had some wheels done by a guy on the northside who does the work A/H and charged me $50 per wheel. He does very good work. PM me if you want his number.

As a side note, I have PM'd this number to a few people by now, Is Alan still doing this and how did the mods on your wheels go???

just get 10" rims, safer and new. i got defected and they wrote down shite loads, but looked at the rims with no problem. they are $170 for whites (dear as at the moment really sucks) paid $160 for chromes a few years back.

ISUZUROVER - Told me the same thing a couple of months back, but I did not get onto him about it. I am thinking about rebuilding my diffs, and I also happen to have some 60 Series diffs sitting at home. By putting them under it, that will widen my stance, get my tyres away from my leaf springs, and if it not enough, i can then get my wheels done.

I have just bought new Sunrasias for my 35s and priced 10s aswell and they are around the 165-170 mark depending on where you go.

If you do see the guy that ISUZUROVER told us about, let me know how they turn out.

"Off road passenger vehicles fitted with front and rear beam axles may have an increase in track up to 50mm beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for the particular model of vehicle"

Changing the centre's in you rims will not necessarily increase your lock.
The change in your scrub radius means the wheel turns in an ARC instead of on the spot,meaning the wheel may foul the chassis or body sooner then it did before.

Years ago, there was a place on the northside, near Albion/Mayne, possibly in Abbotsford Rd. If I remember correctly, the place was called Wilsons Wheelworks. I dont know if they still exist, as I havent lived in Brissie for over 20 years.

Yep, we used to use Wilsons heaps but they just disapeared. They did brilliant work and well priced. I havent come accross any other wheel works in Brissie.
