Thanks for the info - do i need to pull out the axles also? so it not a straight up centre swap as described by the mechanic. There is other parts thatr need to be reemoved and replaced. What about the LSD?
Going to replace gaskets so no dramas there.
More help would be appreciated - thanks

to get a center out you need to remove the axles from it to allow it to be removed from the housing
what are you replacing them with ?
4.3's to 4.8s or something
fornt is a little harder as your gotta pull the front diff down so you can slide the cvs and axles out to get the center free
once again its not hard prolly take half a day to do if you got the right tools and a mate or two.

Shed some light for me here. I was sure you simply pulled the cv's out and then the axles and the diff should be ready to come out???

pull your cv's and shafts out(a few steps before that though)and your centre is ready to come out.
Easy way to do front is remove outer 6 bolts that hold freewheelin hub in then remove c clip of end of axle next bolts that retain freewheelin hub body .Next remove all the little bolts that hold the wiper seals on the back of the swivel hub then pull out the felt steel and rubber out of the back of the swivel hub.Next undo the nuts and remove the upper swiel hub bearing retainer then loosen the lower nuts and knock the lower retainer but do not remove it.Now you should have enough movemnet to remove the hole swivel hub and wheel bearing set up to pull the cv and axle out make some s shaped bar to hang the removed housing on repeat on other side then remove diff center doing it this way you dont disturb your wheel bearings and saves heaps of time have seen a mate with a rattle gun remove and replace a broken cv and axle in 20 minutes on a lux
