Oil pressure on 5L

Post by Slo-Lux »

Hi Guys,

wondering if anyone can help!!

I have a 99 hilux with the 5L motor, the problem is that when it is cold or when it has been sitting the oil pressure light takes about 5 seconds to go out. It is like the filter is draining back into the sump - could this be one of the relief valves leaking?? Also when parked with the filter on the downhill side of a slope the problem is lessened.

I am worried I am damaging the engine by starting it like this all the time am I just being paranoid?? Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks,

Rhys

Get somebody with a master mechanical guage to check the oil pressure
You might have a faulty oil pressure switch
