I must admit the economy with the Landy turbo diesels is impressive. I towed my Jeep Wrangler from Canberra to Brisbane with a Defender130 (300 not the Td5) and used less fuel than when I drove there alone in the Jeep! The open flatish freeway was easy especially when you have your momentum up, but the hills do bog you down. I sat on about 90-100 most of the way.
The only downfall with it is the manual tranny and starting on hills, before the turbo starts spinning you've only got a 2.5L diesel, which makes taking off on gradients a bit interesting. Engaging low range rescued me a number of timess.
