bobtailin well body

Post by Da Lux »

is it possible to bobtail a DC well body for tha lux as a lil project. is there any dramas with mountin it or with tha back openin. tha singlecabs just get e/cab wells and give a bitta betta departure angle, and someone musta thoughta doin it.
Cheers Macca.

It would be the same as bobbing a Single Cab body. You would just end up with a really short tray.

Is that true? Can you just swap an extra cab tray onto a single cab chassis? i wouldnt think so all the mounts would be the same and there would just be a gap behind the cab?

unless you move all the mounts by about 40cm or so!

You are correct. It would not line up.

I missed what he said in his first post.

You have to cut a clip out of your tray then weld the back portion holding the lights etc back on. Same principle for Single or Dual cabs.

How could an X cab tray fit on SC? Aren't the XC tray heaps shorter in front of wheel well?
Just had an idea- build your own shortbed- 4runner chassis, single cab and X cab styleside- look pretty cool, eh?
I thought about bobbing my DC tray but thought it may look a bit funny... could someone do a photoshop?

A mate did this to his dc a couple of years ago, has since put a little steel tray and roll bar on. He cut the chassis of @ shackle mount.

Was gonna sell the well back @ one stage.

i think maybe once or twice i have had issues with the tub hitting sumthing due to lack of clearance. not enuff to worry me just yet, but if i find a cheap tub i will bob it so that i have a spare if needed for when i go to the dump and shit like that. or even try and make a trailer out of it
