Defender steering dampener measurements
On the weekend, we were trying to fit a Defender steering dampener to a Range Rover. This involved fabricating new brackets so that it would sit much higher up out of the way. The problem we ran into was getting the distance right between the brackets when the steering is pointing straight ahead so that the compression of the dampener is centered and has enough movement either way lock to lock.
Could someone with a Defender please advise the distance between the two mounting brackets when the wheels are pointing straight ahead.
Thanks.

Some pics for yal to see...
Needs a little fine tuning and it will be perfect...
The kit was homemade using steel from a couple of server towers and other bits and pieces lying around.
We tested it out yesterday, and I am very impressed. I can hit things a lot faster know without feeling it all through the steering wheel. The only problem with this is that the steering dampener dampens better than the suspension so I still feel the bumps through my ar$e!
