80 series 3inch lift

Ok I am about to get 3inch coils for my 80 what else do I need and also what mods will I need to do as well good tips welcome :lol:

3 degree castor bushes, shocks thats about it.
shouldn't pose any dramas.

Try to get longer shox than what is available aftermarket for a 2 inch lift, as these are not long enough to allow good articulation when u lift past 2 inches. I just bought some 45mm doggies for the front of mine that are ment to fit a 6 inch lifted gq. Just the rite length for my 3 inch lift :D

With 3 " lift you WONT need castor plates - just get the standard plate redrilled - Mine was done that way and Castor angle is perfect.

With 3" coils.... easy as. :D

great thanks for the help I will have a look at drilling plates or getting new

ones depends on price also took my sway bars off for the weekend

what a huge difference did some washouts that i would normaly go

around very happy :D

got the springs today and they look heaps bigger than the oe springs
now can i put them in with the old shocks for testing purposes cheers

Old thread here but with a 2" lift on a 96 is there a need for Caster Correction? I just bought some Second Hand TJM springs and Shocks real cheap do i need anything else? Will the brake lines be OK?

Ruff,

Brake lines will be fine, castor should be ok I think, mine had 2 inch springs in it when I bought it and no correction and drove nicely, although I never got it measured with those springs in. No need, it drove fine.

Depending on how much droop you get out of the front you may need to lengthen the diff breather as it's the first thing to become too short, but with 2" shocks it should reach, just check it out.

THE BEST WAY TO SORT YOUR CASTOR PROBS BEFORE U SPEND YOUR HARD EARNT IS TO FIT THE SPRINGS SHOCKS ETC. GO GET A WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND THE CASTOR SHOULD BE 4 DEGREES BACK STANDARD. ASK YOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT PLACE WHAT YOUR CAR IS FOR EXAMPLE 7 DEGREES , YOU WOULD THEN NEED THREE DEGREE BUSHES TO BRING BACK TO STANDARD GEOMETRY. SIMPLE SCIENCE

Whack em in....drive it, if u can handle the wandering, do nothing...remember if you have a winch planned, it will lower the front back closer to std...if steering is not acceptable, take one front lower control arm off at a time and slot the front hole only down 14mm......(thats 2 degrees) Buy 4 flat washers, put them on the two front bolts and go to the wheel aligner. He will set the caster up right, then you weld the washers to the diff housing brackets. All done, still have articulation.
