ok now ive found the hand throttle usefull for a few things
cruise control on the freeway and for using with the onboard aircompressor but other than that whats its real purpose ???

If you're a jeeper or regeared zook a HT can stop you humping the hill when you foot bounces on the go pedal if your throttle return spring is too light.

it was alright until about halfway between bne and syd when my roof lifted a bit and the seal above the windscreen popped.. there wasnt any bolts up there from the previous owner.. then it became a pretty noisy trip all the way down to melb.. glad it only took 2 days to get there.. ( btw.. we did the high country on the way back! )
but back on topic.. i found that the hand throttle would keep my speed somewhere between 100-115km's depending on the headwind at the time.
i have considered using the handthrottle to crawl creeks but the thought of not having total control still freaks me out a bit. sure you could clutch in and slam the throttle off but id rather just back off the accelorator..
i have idled up creeks in 1st low and my mates spotting couldnt keep up so maybe i just need a lower low..

One trick i have seen is where you park the bullbar up against a large immovable object in front of some grass, such as a tree, wall or an F250.
Wind up the throttle and let the clutch go and the vehicle will push up against the object whilst digging trenches with the tyres. This allows you get out of the vehicle and walk away while it does its own thing.
Kinda silly and a tad dangerous, especially if it pushed over the object and drove off. Not really an everyday use for the hand throttle, but a cool one anyway.

i use mine to increase the idle revs on cold morning/when runinng the aircon so so its not soo sluggish off the line.
Its primary purpose would be for better throttle control off road then things are really bumpy and u risk your foot jumping off the pedal etc.
I havent tried it as cruise control yet...

BINGO this is the best use of all...I use mine all the time in really hairy situations and on big side slopes when you need to stop/take a differant line
