i was with mine for a little while, well i cracked the steering box, and i lost power steering and its a real bitch to turn 33x12.5 tyres on a GQ without power steer!!!!!

Not in the short term but expect wear if done so over an extended period of time.
Best to seal up the system if the pump is removed for a long period, grit and hydrolic pumps arent the greatest combination.
The steering will ofcourse be alot heavier too.

i drove my car without the belt on the pump for ages and it worked fine. As V8Patrol said, the steering was a bit heavy, but then i'm used to heavy sterring so it wasn't a drama.

Looks like i have another pump on the way and to play it safe ive borrowed a vehicle so its all good, thanks for the input fellas and heavy steering isnt the word for it.
